Nice interview with Stana. I was happy to see that she is now a producer on the show. I am guessing that Nathan is also a producer? I was surprised that they were not listed as producers before this. It sounds like they filmed 801 from Castle's perspective and 802 will be from Beckett's viewpoint. They could use her double the have Stana dub in the dialog later. It will be interesting to see how they do this. deadline.com/2015/07/castle-stana-katic-season-8-abc-1201485528/

Looks like this was posted twice. I am in the visitor center today working and I had a rush of people. It took me awhile to post.

Thanks so much for posting this, Tycho. I continue to get more and more excited as I hear / read the casts' comments. They all seem energized and excited about the new season and I'm taking my cue from them. I know that it's common for leads in a show to be named as producers after a few seasons but I really don't understand if that means they take on more of the work of getting an episode done or if it's just in name only. The actual producers are busy finding locations and coordinating all of the departments and it just seems to me that the leads don't have the time to actually DO something in that vein. Anybody understand this better than I do? ?

www.scriptmag.com/features/primetime-why-some-tv-stars-get-producer-credits-and-how-important-is-life-experienceWhy do key actors (stars), a couple of seasons into a TV show, once it’s successful, get credited with “Executive Producer” within the credits? Is this a contractual thing, or is this agents and producers trying to appease their clients? I’m unsure as to whether the stars are actually doing any producing to earn that title, other than objecting to a storyline they simply don’t like the look of. These credit bumps usually happen as parts of a star’s contract renegotiations once a series hits a certain level of success (often two or three years… but sometimes more, sometimes less). Although TV actors’ contracts are traditionally for seven years (or occasionally 6½), shows are sometimes so successful earlier in their runs that actors renegotiate, asking for more money and a producer credit. When an actor receives a producer credit, it usually comes alongside a request for more money. Hopefully, the studio acknowledges that part of the show’s success comes from the actor’s presence and performance, and they’re willing to negotiate a new salary and producer credit. Sometimes, an actor’s producer credit is just “vanity,” a concession to keep them happy. But even when the actor earns the credit, it rarely comes tied to actual producing duties or fees. In other words, a producer credit doesn’t contractually obligate an actor to fulfill actual duties or receive producing monies… although, like I said, the actor has probably received a raise anyway for his acting duties. Often, however, studios and producers feel the actor has legitimately earned his or her producing credits by being creatively involved in the show.

Hi everyone!
Anyone know for sure whether Nathan is also a producer? I wonder if this means that Stana will be allowed to imput ideas for Beckett. If so, and given that she has always been the shipper Queen for Castle & Beckett getting together, will Stana suggest a few scenes that fans have been wanting to see every since 'shut the front door' and they got together. It also makes me wonder whether Stana will be allowed to direct an episode later in the season.
For me the article also implied that ABC were keen to get Stana back on board because they allowed her to film the 2nd movie knowing that it would impact on her being able to start filming at the same time as everyone else.
B.x

Thanks so much martmar. That answers my question and pretty much confirms what I thought. I have no idea if Nathan asked for or was given the same status. I guess we'll have to wait until the opening credits of the premier to find out.
