Hello Everyone,
I hope you all had a nice weekend. I was able to get my first Covid vaccine yesterday! I was checking the pharmacy sites on Saturday and surprisingly, one of them had an open appointment on Sunday. The appointments disappeared quickly so I was only able to get one for myself and not my husband. He was really hoping to get the J&J one-shot version, so I think he's going to wait and see what the final word on that one is before making an appointment.
No side effects with the first shot, other than a slightly sore arm. And I already have the 2nd appointment three weeks from now. Two weeks after that, I'm going to get a haircut! I really can't wait to have shorter hair for the summer.
We also had another incident at my apartment. They were working on the bathroom above us, and there was a leak. Anyway, I heard a noise and walked into my kitchen to find it raining on one end! It stopped quickly enough but there was plenty of water to clean up.
Also, I kept my daughter home from school on Friday because she had a headache and a stomach ache. Unfortunately, the school flagged those as two possible symptoms of Covid. So we were given a choice, either keep her home over the next 10 days or get a Covid test after symptoms ended. Well, she was fine by the end of Friday, so we got the test on Saturday and got the results back yesterday. Negative, thank goodness. But between tests and vaccines, it felt like a Covid themed weekend.
Well, I'm off to physical therapy. Hope your week is going well so far.

Yesterday the temperature dropped about 10 degrees in 10 minutes. I know because I was outside waiting at the bus stop. One moment the sun was shining and then dark clouds rolled in and the wind was causing the little white petals that had fallen off all the trees to make mini-tornadoes in the street. I was just glad we made it home before it started to rain.
Last night, there was a snow shower! I'm just happy none of it stuck. Yesterday morning it was 60 degrees. This morning it was 32! Nothing like spring to keep things interesting.

Winds in 20 MPHs for three days with frequent gusts in middle to upper 30 MPHs during each of those days. Night temperatures have been right at 32. So, where is Spring? Even more annoying, USA-Canada border is still closed to all except 'essential travel'. We lost our fishing opportunity last year to this virus. My brother and I have completed the vaccinations and have CDC shot ecords to prove that. We will agree to 'boosters' if they want that. Maybe a current 'negative' COVID test result document. Perhaps they do not know that they better resolve this matter soon. Old guys are usually patient...but not forever.

They are requiring visitors to show a negative Covid test taken 72 hours before arrival and then quarantine for the next 14 days. If you're staying for less than that, then you need to be there for an "essential" reason. Maybe you can convince them your trip is "essential" to your mental health! Hopefully, with more people getting vaccinated every day, the rules will become less restrictive soon. Hang in there!

Hi, Ah, well "...Maybe you can convince them your trip is "essential" to your mental health!..." Wow, I better have a more adequate reason than '...my mental health...'; otherwise, I am doomed! We are hoping that the 14 day quarantine part does not apply in a few months [14-28 August]. Eventhough we would be looking out on a chain of lakes where we often don't even see another boat all day, it would be terrible to sit inside a cabin all day for two weeks playing cribbage!

It's been crazy windy here as well since Wednesday. I'm happy we got our bit of fun in Tuesday evening. My cousin took my daughter and I out to dinner as a belated birthday present for me. We did outdoor dining and it was lovely; it was 70 degrees and sunny that day and the restaurant we chose had a wonderful outdoor dining area with tables that had plenty of space in between.
So that's two dining out experiences in two weeks for me after not doing so for over a year. We're on a roll!

We have had beautiful 80’s here this week but lots of wind. I skipped my kayaking this week so I didn’t have to paddle against the winds. I have been working to repair a lock in my RV and the piston lever under the bed before my next trip. Has anyone watched the new NatGeo series on Whales? It is wonderful. I really don’t care for the narrator. To me it is a distraction from the beautiful photography. She is trying to “act” not narrate. I was surprised that the episode on Orcas did not mention or film anything on the Southern Resident orcas in Washington State. The Oscars should be interesting this year. Anyone watching that? I usually watch after so I can skip the parts I don’t want to watch.
