Hi All, It’s Monday once again. Our snow is down to patches and it's supposed to hit 60 degrees later this week! I don't want to jinx anything but it looks like spring has arrive. This is my daughter’s first week of five-day-a-week school. It’s actually a crazy rotating schedule (5 days in-school this week, 3 in-school/2 virtual next week, 2 in-school/3 virtual, and then it goes back to 5.) I printed out the schedule and posted it on our wall or I’d never be able to keep it all straight. No lunches, so the days are shortened, and they still wear masks but we’re all hoping for the best. My hope is that with my daughter in school all week, that I'll have a little more quiet time to get more work done. Since school went virtual last spring, she took over the desk in our small den, and I have a make-shift desk in the living room about 15 feet away. For the most part, it's worked out but there are times when we distract one another. Last summer, there were times I'd take my laptop and work on the front porch, but that's not possible this time of year! Yesterday, we took a drive and took photos of my Mom and step-father’s new townhouse. Okay, so it was really just a hole in the ground as all they’ve done so far is dig the hole and place the framing and rebar for the basement but my parents were excited to get photos of the progress. So check in and let us know how your week is going...

What a difference the start of a new week makes. Yesterday my oldest daughter was scheduled for her 2nd dose. I rode with her to the stadium because they sometimes would give another person in the car the vaccine, too. They said they didn't have enough that day for extra people. Even so, it was interesting watching the process. That site runs 24/7, and there were 100s of people waiting their turn. When I got home, I immediately went online and low and behold I got appointments for this Friday and 4 weeks from then! The store is less than 3 miles from our house. I'm just glad the appointment search is finally over. Truly disheartening at the time.

I'm pleased to hear that you have been scheduled. Regardless of this new announcement today that people who have completed their vaccination series can be 'out and about' more freely, I plan to continue wearing a mask and avoiding crowds. I do not want to be the first person to disprove their newest 'discovery'

This week has been harvest week. Picked lemons and tangelos. I have a 1/2 gal of tangelo juice and a gallon plus 4 24oz bottles of lemon juice frozen. I have a batch of lemon cello brewing. I also am trying to make some lemon infused olive oil this year. I keep trying to find uses for my lemons. I had a trained arbor come today to clean up the trees. They were in great need of trimming. I was really tired tonight after my PT this afternoon and all of the harvesting. I would have a glass of wine but I would probably have to go straight to bed.
DrvrTmr finally you will get your shot. I got mine at the municipal stadium down by the zoo. I drove right in and there were only 2 cars in front of me. They have that place running like a fine machine. Glad you can get it so close to your house. Admin sounds like your recovery is moving right along. Keep up the good work.

DrvrTrnr, Congrats on getting that appointment. It does feel almost impossible until you finally get it scheduled. I can’t wait until my husband and I are eligible. I’ll feel much better once we’re all vaccinated. larryholmes, like you, I think I’m going to be careful and keep to social distancing and mask wearing for some time to come, especially since the vaccines are still so new and no one knows exactly how long they last. Plus, I just realized I haven’t had a cold or any other similar illness in a year! Has anyone else noticed that? It seems the precautions work for more than just Covid. tycho657, yes, I’m doing well, thanks. And I’m generally in bed early on the days when I’ve had PT too. I’m envious of your citrus trees! In her old house, my mom had a huge lemon tree and she’s really missing it now. Enjoy your Lemon Cello.

Can you imagine being a store manager in a state where mask wearing is a mandated requirement? Now you need to wonder how they are to challenge anyone for not wearing a mark as the state requires when another apparently reliable scientific/medical source says that is not necessary beginning two weeks after the final injection. Ah, bureaucracy at its finest!

Ah, bureaucracy at its finest! I don't know how we'll react here in NJ. Masks have been required in all public places since last spring. It's been almost a whole year! At this point, it would feel weird to go out without a mask on. People even wear them when they go on walks outside, especially if you're on Main St. If you aren't wearing a mask and you see someone approaching, you take the mask out of your pocket and put it on. It's just considered being courteous now. Honestly, I look at the craziness happening in other states and don't understand all the drama. I hope it never gets like that here.

Not much to report from up North this week. We've finally had some warmer than average weather and have lost a good bit of our snow, at least on southern facing slopes. We may get rain tomorrow and that would definitely eliminate much of the rest of it. You kind of forget how nice it is to see grass after seeing nothing but a white landscape for months on end.
My husband and I are both done with our shots but now we wait the 2 weeks for the vaccine to reach full effectiveness. After that, we do feel OK with having a few friends come over who are also fully vaccinated. We still won't be going out to restaurants or doing anything in a crowd and will wear a mask in public, but as long as we can control who comes in the house and limit it to fully protected people, we're looking forward to taking that first step back to socializing.

It sure is nice to go out and feel safe. Of course, we continue to mask and distance but it is great to go to stores again. We got our taxes done today. Recently, we had pedicures and our hair cut. We also went to Lazy Boy and got Rikki a new chair. What fun to do simple things again. We noticed it too, Christine. We talked recently about not getting sick in the last year. That part was fun in 2020

'Groundhog's Revenge': Today it was 72 here in northwestern Virginia; nevertheless, there is a remote possibility of 'snow showers' late Sunday night and very early Monday morning. I suppose that also fits since it is the inception of '2021 Daylight Saving Time' early Sunday. PS: We put out ten large bags of yard waste today. Hang on, here we go again!

larryholmes, you'll be getting snow from the storm we're expecting Thursday to Friday, although it'll be rain here in the desert.
geezer, in early January I said to my husband that the flu season would probably not be so bad with most people wearing masks and washing hands more frequently. That was proven to be correct. The flu is non-existent in AZ, something positive for a change.
We're into our third week without a dishwasher. The old one wouldn't drain. Considering we bought it in April of 1999, I'd say we got our money's worth out of it, lol. The new one is supposed to come this Monday. Luckily it's just my husband and me and we've been using thicker paper plates. More trash, but I don't want to wash dishes every night.

And, I'm sure Rikki is NOT lazy!

It's great to hear everyone is doing so well and getting out and about a bit. Weather forecast was for a couple of low 60s days this week, but I guess we're only going to get one (today) but at this point I'll take ANY higher temps we can get. Snow is slowly melting, I'm sure we'll get more, but spring is definitely around the corner, the birds are chirping more which is delightful to hear. There are a couple (finches I think, but they fly out so fast I can't get a good look) that are nesting in the goat shed....that will be interesting. I did get to the wildlife refuge and thus ocean yesterday, it was sunny and in the 50s which is warm for us! Beautiful day. I put a deposit on one more kid (yet to be born) -- just one , that will make six total and I'll quit. The breeder is just starting to list births so it will probably be a couple months before I know what wethers might be available (she sells most of her goats as breeding stock which can be quite expensive, but there are always a few wethers available at a much lower price).

We can't believe it but our snow is almost all gone except for a few dirty mounds in parking lots. On the Weather last evening, they showed our area being 30 inches below last winter at this time. We typically get a couple of BIG storms in the Spring but this winter has been so weird that we just don't know what to expect.

It's official: I'm now a member of the 1st dose vaccine club, lol. It was easy and painless, although 6 hours later, I cam tell something stuck my arm. Just hoping that's as bad as it gets. I received the Moderna shot and at least have 4 weeks before the 2nd dose, time enough for my arm to recover. The biggest surprise was seeing all the other older people waiting their turn.
The rain has finally started and it's 55* and gloomy. A good day to curl up by the fireplace.
