I just thought I'd share some shows I've been enjoying recently. I like shows with mysteries which usually involve murder but there are others too.
Justified - About a US Marshall in Kentucky that often has to kill in his line of work but it's Justified. The 1st season lost me a little but I've enjoyed it since. Netflix
Ozark - An accountant's partner got involved with drug money and is murdered and the accountant agrees to launder money to keep his family alive. They keep getting in deeper and deeper. I thought I would hate it but I love it. Netflix
The Stranger - There are so many mysteries going on and many of them are interrelated. I never could guess what was going to happen. Netflix
In the Dark - A blind girl is pretty much just existing even though she has learned how to navigate her world quite well. She courageously gets involved in solving a murder and finds love and opens herself up to others. Of course things get even more complicated and dangerous. This a CW show but I'm watching it on Netflix.
Resident Alien - Is anyone watching this new Alan Tudyk show? He's an alien that crashes on earth and has to take on the form of the 1st human he encounters (and kills). He's trying to figure out how to act like a human by watching Law & Order. Of course he's very awkward in that Alan Tudyk way. One child sees his true alien form but no one believes him. Lots of interesting people with interesting stories surrounding the alien. That's probably what keeps me coming back. In some ways I can't believe I'm still watching it. It's either on CW or SyFy I think
Heartland - This is an old show that I just discovered. It's just a nice show about a family struggling after the death of the mom. They live on the family horse ranch. People don't always get along but they're working at it. I hear there are about 14 seasons so I guess I'll be watching this for a while. Netflix
Escape to the Chateau - This is a reality show about an English couple (with 2 kids) who buy an abandoned chateau in France and fix it up to be their family home and also to host events like weddings or wine tastings. The husband is an engineer who can seemingly do anything including being a chef and a wedding officiant and the wife is a designer with eclectic taste. HGTV
The Repair Shop - A shop in England is staffed with experts in several fields. People bring in items in a sad state that usually belonged to their grandparents or parents that they remembered fondly from their childhoods. They hope the items can be returned to their former glory. They are so thrilled to see them restored they are often reduced to tears. The staff is all nice and calm and take pride in restoring things. I'm always smiling at the end as they reveal the items to the owners. This show is so calming, I like to watch it before I go to bed. Netflix

ibmjas, We watched Justified when it first premiered, and overall, really enjoyed it. My husband is watching Resident Alien but I’ve only seen about half the episodes. I watch it with him when I have the chance. It’s quirky and strange, oddly insightful and weirdly fun. I can’t imagine anyone other than Alan Tudyk making that role work; he really is perfect for it. It’s on SyFy. We have a whole new love for NCIS this season. After 18 seasons, it feels like it’s taken on a new life with it’s current cast and we’re excited to watch it for the first time in a long time. My daughter and I really like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. It’s such a unique show which will make you laugh and cry. So far, I enjoyed the first season a little more than the current one, but the last episode was definitely a highlight. We’re watching a British show called The Capture. It stars Holiday Granger, a British actress I like, as Detective Inspector Rachel Carey who investigates a possible murder. It questions the reliability of video surveillance in a world where deep fakes can be made. I’m three episodes in and it is intriguing. I believe it’s on NBC/Peacock or you can buy it on other platforms.

Not a lot of new series on my plate. I watch a few premieres that pique my interest and toss them pretty quickly. I watched 3 Alien eppys. I had the others dvred, but, gave up. It just didn't quite cut it for me. I have Clarice also on my hopper but I haven't watched any yet. Anyone have an opinion? Lets see..... I lost interest in The Equalizer after 2 episodes too. Nothing new seems to be working for me. I don't have any of the streaming or premium services where, apparently, all the good "stuff" is. As I look around, its good to be back on the board. I have been gone a long time.

Heartland is one of my favorite shows that I discovered over a year ago. Netflix recently released seasons 12 and 13.
My husband really likes Resident Alien and can't wait for the next episode. He likes it more than The Mandalorian (Disney +) which he said was very good, too.
I just finished watching Emily In Paris (Netflix) which was nominated for a Golden Globe. It's about a marketing professional who has to work in Paris. She doesn't speak French and has to find her way with the company. It's a half hour show and easy to get through.
This Is Us and The Voice.
Movies based on real life: Founder (Ray Kroc and the story of McDonalds); The Theory of Everything (Stephen Hawking who had ALS); Wishman (After suffering a life-threatening accident, a man finds a new purpose in his life.); Spotlight (Boston Globe reporters investigating a massive church scandal). All on Netflix.

cxq319, Welcome back! It’s good to “see” you. . I like The Equalizer but don’t love it. I plan to keep watching for a while because I genuinely like Queen Latifah in this role and am curious to see where they take the series. Silence of the Lambs was one of my husband’s favorite movies. He hasn’t watched Clarice yet but I know he plans to. Although I like a good serial killer story, the movie was too scary for me so I may pass on watching this series. On regular networks, I really like This Is Us, especially this latest season, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and NCIS which I mentioned above, FBI and FBI Most Wanted, the new Magnum PI, Young Sheldon, and I’ve kind of gotten into Chicago PD. DrvrTrnr, Emily in Paris sounds like fun. If I have the time I might check it out. My family really enjoyed Founder, Michael Keaton did a great job in the lead role and we learned a lot about how McDonalds created the fast-food industry. And I saw Spotlight when it came out in the theaters. It was one of my “I’m going to go by myself and enjoy the movie I want to see” days that I used to have every few months long before Covid. I miss those.

We're watching The Equalizer. I like Queen Latifah too but don't like the show as much as I thought I would. I'm getting tired of This is Us. It seems like there's drama for the sake of drama. I'm also tired of them introducing new characters that you don't care about then at the end of the episode they start to tie them into the plot. I still love A Million Little Things. I love Prodigal Son. We're into the new Magnum P.I. We're still devout NCIS watchers. I hadn't noticed this year being a lot better. It's not nearly as good as the earlier years but still good enough. I remember thinking earlier in the year, that Gibbs wasn't in the episodes as much. I think he is more now.

I think he is more now.I love Gibbs and always will, but now I like McGee as a senior member of the group. I had gotten really tired of Tony and Abby. Abby especially felt like she never really changed or grew. I'm enjoying Kasie a lot more. I was shocked when they killed off Jimmy's wife with Covid but thought it was a well-done heartbreaking twist. But my favorites are Ellie Bishop and Nick Torres. I think they are interesting characters with the possibility of being a great couple. I just hope NCIS doesn't do what they did with Tony and Ziva and simply tease the pairing until one of the actors finally leaves the show. I hate that!

Wow, I guess Jimmy's wife dying is still on the DVR. I never got tired of Tony but Torres is a good replacement and I really like Kasie. I guess I still have trouble seeing McGee as the leader, behind Gibbs of course. I guess the moral of the story is don't get involved with an NCIS special agent. Shannon was blown up. Vance's wife was blown up. Delilah was blown up but at least she survived. Now Jimmy's wife is gone. Did I miss anyone?
I forgot to mention that we are watching Big Sky. Several young women have gone missing, but when 2 teens also go missing investigations start in earnest. There is always something shocking happening in this show starting with the 1st episode. ABC

ABC I'm sorry! I didn't mean to spoil anything for you. Yeah, a lot of characters die on NCIS, it's been said mostly women but I added the numbers up once and at the time it was actually pretty even. I think the female characters who have died have simply had more emotional impact. There's another death that occurs in one of the most recent episodes, which may irk some people, but I appreciated it because I've had something similar happen in my own family so it resonated with me. I haven't watched last night's episode yet but I know it's a case that gets into dog fighting. As someone who used to deal with dog-fighting rings when I managed an animal shelter/ran animal control, I'm both intrigued by how they'll handle the story, hopeful they'll be educating the public a bit about how they can prevent it, and kind of dreading it all at the same time.

I missed Jimmy's wife dying also? Was that last season? No, it was just a couple of episodes ago. It's interesting because the episode opens already talking about Jimmy's loss, so the audience has to figure out what they're talking about before it's revealed. The series wanted to show how the pandemic has affected even the most positive of people, that person being Jimmy.

Dusted off my Castle DVDs. Finished S1 and now over half way through S2. I had forgotten how much I liked season 2. Not a bad episode and so enjoyable to watch again. I actually like Kate's look and wardrobe better in these earlier seasons than later in the series. Also, Rick was so knowledgeable and helpful (before they made him more clown-like). He made the team look good.
