Well, we're getting more snow again. All the sidewalks were cleared this morning and our two feet of snow had melted down to about a foot. But around noon, I looked out the window and it looked as though a blizzard had hit us! It's now down to flurries, but all the sidewalks are covered again. My Mom and step-father will get their second vaccine later this week, but I'm still trying to get a vaccine for my Dad here in NJ. I'm up late, get up early, but still no luck. Fingers crossed I have better luck this week. Hope everyone else is staying warm. Let us know how your week is going.

Your weather seems like ours. We had another couple inches of snow about 0900 and now it is 44 degrees at 1600...but, wind is now screaming again! I guess this the 'karma' from us laughing at the groundhog just a short time ago. Maybe we need to heed that little beast much more carefully next year! Hope you get all the vaccinations resolved. Just to show you how little I know...does your daughter get one too? Our grandkids [15 and 13] who are here but have not had them yet. Their father [our son] has had the first as part of his second deployment to Kuwait pre-deployment requirements. Their mother had the two vaccinations cycle competed several weeks ago since she is a nurse practitioner in daily contact with many patients. Hopefully my wife will begin the series soon.

I didn't know your son was in the military. Which branch? And please thank him and his family for his service for us. As far as I know, the vaccines are only approved for 16-years-old and up. They haven't tested them on kids yet, but I believe the next trials will be for 12 and up. My daughter is 11, so I don't expect her to be able to get one until maybe next fall. I'm hoping that they have the Johnson & Johnson 1 dose vaccine available soon. I think that will help speed up the process a lot for the summer months. My husband and I don't expect to have the vaccine available to us until then. In the meantime, I have my alarm set for 11:45pm tonight to try again with the pharmacy websites to get my Dad the vaccine. At some point, something has to work, right?

Yes, both our sons are serving. Chris [older son] is a JAG lawyer in Virginia National Guard unit due to be reactivated to Regular Army status for his second deployment to Kuwait...possible a full year tour this time. Nick [younger son] is a doctor in Minnesota Army Reserve forward evacuation hospital unit...hopefully he will not be reactivated to Regular Army status and redeployed to Kuwait again. Dawn was a nurse in the British Army. She had been deployed with a British Army forward evacuation hospital unit then reassigned to the major stationary hospital in Singapore. Seems both her family and mine are deployed too often. Both of our fathers were in WWII...Dawn's was British RAF and mine was US Marine Corps. Ever on grandfathers were involved...Boar War in South Africa for Dawn and Spanish-American War in Cuba for me. Fortunately, only my grandfather in S-A War was a casualty and his was for malaria from which he recovered. I never really appreciated the depth of worry that my parents had for my brother and me going to Vietnam [Jack once and me twice]. Then for Dawn and the our two sons for my second tour in Vietnam.

Great news, Tycho! Steve and I both get our second shots next week. Most of our close friends and relatives are on a similar schedule so we look forward to being able to get together with some of them in about 3 weeks. WooHoo!

Happy to hear about those getting 1st shots and those awaiting 2nd!! That's good news. On March 6th, it will be 2 weeks since our 2nd shot. Sad to say, but looking forward to Dentist, haircuts, and pedicures. Good Luck, Christine. I'm sorry you are having such a tough time getting your Dad in. That's just sad.

Yay! I finally got my father an appointment for a vaccine. I was up at midnight last night and thought I had an appointment. The Rite Aid pharmacy had me go through the entire process but at the very end it told me all appointment slots were full. I was up at 4am and the CVS site showed appointment availability but when I hit the button to book one it immediately told me that nothing was available. But at 7am I was up and tried CVS again and by some miracle, it went through! The pharmacy is about 40 minutes away but my Dad doesn't mind driving, he drives all over the tri-state area for work so it's no big deal. He's got the first shot scheduled for Monday and the second one scheduled later in the month. I'm relieved to finally get this done and hoping I can get more sleep from here on out!

I got my 2nd shot today. Yay! The 1st shot felt like she stabbed me with a steak knife. I even woke up in the middle of the night with a very sore arm. This time it just felt like a normal shot (I don't mind shots). My arm doesn't hurt at all right now but maybe it will later. I'm glad to get the shots, but now they're saying they may not be very effective against some of the newer mutations, but will hopefully prevent a severe reaction to the virus. Who knows, I'm just glad to see that they are working hard to get everyone vaccinated. I just wish my husband could get vaccinated. He needs it more than me but isn't old enough yet.
Today it was 65°! A week ago the high was 15°. Hard to believe.

I get my 1st shot on Saturday. I wish I could say something like that about getting first shots for my husband and me. I'm still trying to get appointments for both of us. The pharmacy at Safeway where we shop is expecting another shipment soon. I keep checking for availability, but it still says no open dates at this time. Younger age groups will soon be eligible to get shots. That will make signing up even harder.

Hopefully in your area they will quickly establish descending age-group and wellness category prioritization rules as they have here in Virginia. They very strictly enforcing the prioritization and have verification procedures in effect.

Arizona has many snowbirds from other states who are getting their shots here. Locals don’t get priority unfortunately.

They very strictly enforcing the prioritization and have verification procedures in effect. We have eligibility rules here, too. Right now shots are for essential workers and people 65+. It's just a matter of being at the right website at the right time and hoping for open dates. Like tycho said, residents don't have priority over the snowbirds. It's first come, first served.

I got my 1st shot yesterday. The car in front of me had Oregon plates, the car in the next lane was from Wisconsin. My arm didn’t even get sore 😍 They told me to drink lots of water and move my arm. I sleep on my left side so I got the shot in my right arm. They scheduled my 2nd shot before I left. I told them that date would not work as I’m planning on being 2hrs 50 min. Away camping on that day. I was able to get on line today and reschedule my shot for a few days later when I will be back home.
