Well, we got another 6 inches of snow yesterday on top of the two feet we got last week. Our bigger problem now is that it gets just warm enough during the day to melt a little and then it all freezes over again at night which makes for treacherous conditions in the morning. Still waiting to get my father the Covid vaccine. I now have him on four different lists but there's still a shortage of vaccines here in NJ. How are things in your neck of the woods?

Great news here! I have an appointment for the first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday. WooHoo! At least my husband and I are in the system and will be able to get the second shot in a few weeks. Many of our friends have also started the process so we're hoping that we can at least gather with a small group of them in another 6 weeks or so. We really miss socializing and playing games with friends. We really don't know how this will play out in terms of seeing the kids and grandkids again though. None of them are likely to be vaccinated for quite a while so we'll have to see what the guidelines say about mixing with unvaccinated people. I want so badly to see those grandkids!

Well, it didn't snow this morning (we were projected to get another 2 inches) and my daughter was supposed to go to actual school today but...I couldn't get her on the bus. One section of sidewalk wasn't cleared and everything around it was snow or ice. I'm pretty stable on my cane as long as the ground is clear, but I couldn't risk taking a fall after my surgery and there was no easy way to get over to the bus stop.
So, I emailed my daughter's homeroom teacher to explain and say she'd be attending school virtually today.
Have I mentioned how much I hate winter?

Another storm with 4-6 inches of snow due late Wednesday thru early Friday. Big problem is likelihood of ice again. That part has been terrible this year. We'll stock up and stay inside. As usual, the poor dogs will be reluctant to go out in back yard. Both were startled and shocked a few days ago when they rushed out only to slip and fall on ice covering steps then patio as they were getting to the snow covered grass. Good news is warming over weekend thereby avoiding impact on scheduled COVID-19 second injection on Monday morning. Stay safe and well.

Well, we are supposed to get another 1 to 3 inches of snow tonight. Also, I twisted my hip the wrong way yesterday. I was in the car, and tried to put a bag at my feet. Instead of turning my leg outward, I turned it inward, which is a no-no and boy, did it hurt! I iced it all last night and it's better today, but it was warning that I still need to be extra careful. On the upside, report cards came out and my daughter's was very good, so despite the snow and the hip, I'm still feeling pretty lucky.

I was looking forward to a kayak outing tomorrow. One of my friends was going to borrow a kayak and go with 2 other friends. She has had her first shot. She went to a Super Bowl gathering in her RV park. She has been very careful but thought this would be safe. Well the lady she was sitting with had a husband who had had his first shot but has now gotten covid and is in the hospital. She is now self quarantining so she backed out of the outing. I saw her yesterday before she discovered that she was exposed so I have backed out also. We are making progress with covid but we still need to be careful. I don’t get my first shot until the end of the month. Take care all.

I got my first shot yesterday and have had no side effects at all. I'm so thankful that I'm now locked in for the second dose in 3 weeks too. Most of our friends have started the process so we're hoping that by the last week of March we can gather for some game nights. It's been a whole year since we've done that and all of us are pretty anxious to resume the fun.

nathanfan1 Yay! I'm so happy you've gotten your first vaccine and are signed up for your second. Unfortunately, we seem to be way behind here in NJ as my father is on several lists and hasn't heard a thing yet. I'm hoping that changes soon. Today I had physical therapy and the moment I walked in the door, my therapist said, "You're not walking as well as you were on Monday. Did something happen?" Damn, he's good because I didn't think it was that noticeable. I have to adhere to certain "hip protocols" because of the type of procedure I had. I can't bend more than 90 degrees and I can't turn my leg inward. Well, on Tuesday night, we were in the car and my husband handed me a bag of take-out. I went to put it at my feet and moved both legs to the right without thinking, which turned my surgical leg inward. Exactly what I wasn't supposed to do! I felt it immediately and grabbed that bag and moved my legs back to a regular position. Worst case scenario, I could have dislocated my new hip. Thankfully, it wasn't that bad but I did do some soft tissue damage. I've been icing it ever since and it's getting better but it still aches. I'm so mad at myself because I'd been so careful all month and it only took one moment of not thinking to set me back a bit.

Sorry to learn of your mistake. Please don't try to compensate in hopes of restoring/resolving things. I tried that with my ankle and came very close to doing some permanent unrecoverable damage. You'll be surprised how much the doctors now about 'overcoming' patient mistake. Our younger son is a doctor in an orthopedic group and spends most of his time helping patients struggling to resolve mistakes they made while recovering from surgery.

Glad to hear about the first shotters and those of you who have appointments or are in the system.!!!! We get our 2nd shot next Tuesday. Achy and tired is the consensus among our geezer friends who have had their 2nd shots. A small price to pay to get some protection from this terrible covid.
Stay safe.

One of my good friend's granddaughters was supposed to be married last November, but with Covid there were problems with the venue so they postponed until TODAY! She was telling me they went thru several venues but finally found one that wouldn't require them to wear masks the entire time. Last fall they had a huge bachelorette party or shower or something and several caught Covid there. They decided to downsize their wedding guests to 200 guests! It sounds like a superspreader event to me. When I drive by restaurants in town, it looks like every parking space is taken. I'm sure all my friends are there eating, too. I'm confused though that ALL of the fast food restaurants still have no dine in service. We had freezing rain all day Wednesday and temps haven't gotten above freezing since. Tomorrow evening it's supposed to start snowing & we're supposed to get 6" by Monday evening. We hardly ever get snow any more. Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone! I just made my sweetie a heart shaped cheescake.
