Happy Superbowl Sunday!

No one in my family is really a football fan, so we tend to watch for the commercials. And if I had to pick a team to root for, it has to be Tampa, simply because I hope to move there.

But I thought I'd give everyone a thread to talk about the game, the half-time show, and the ads. Have fun!

Well, Tom Brady did it again. I'm happy for Tampa Bay. They're big bet paid off.

The half-time show gave me a headache. Maybe that means I'm getting old, but the light show really bothered me and I'm not a big fan of The Weeknd.

It felt like there were fewer ads this year. I know Coca-Cola decided not to buy ads this year and I wonder how many other companies decided their money would be better spent elsewhere given how tough the last year has been.

But I thought the National Anthem duet was very nice. I loved that they had a nurse do the coin toss.

And there were a few commercials I really liked, including M&M's being used for apologies, Will Ferrell trying to get to Norway with his GM electric car, John Travolta dancing on the lawn for Scotts, and Toyota's inspiring Jessica Long story.

I can't really comment on the game itself because my family fast forwards through much of it to watch the commercial.

What did everyone else think?

I really thought the Chiefs had a good chance but the Patriots Buccaneers just had a much better defense and offense. Poor Mahomes never had time to do anything and was sacked at least 8 times. Their 1 big interception was called back because of holding. I thought it would be much closer but it was a blow out. So the game was disappointing, didn't really care for the half time show (I heard he put up $8 million of his own money to make it as good as he could), I'm sorry I've never been much for poetry and Amanda Gorman's poetry doesn't really speak to me although I appear to be in the minority.  

Commercials - I liked Jason Alexander's face, let's grab a beer, seeing Travolta dance a little, and Michael B Jordan as Alexa. I may have missed some.

Yeah, I like Amanda Gorman as she's young and different. My daughter generally likes poetry and I think she likes Amanda because hers doesn't sound like some of the boring poetry she has to read in school...and she has really cool outfits!

I almost forgot about the Jason Alexander sweatshirt add and the Let's Get a Beer ad. I enjoyed both of those too. Oddly enough, I liked the Alexa one the first time I saw it but less the second, not quite sure why. To be honest, it could have been because of my headache so I'll reserve judgment for when I see it again.

The whole game,adds, and half time were blah. Brady did what was expected, KC had no defense for their poor QB who was hurt. The halftime show made me feel out of touch. I only really recognized the last sone. Who is that guy? I did enjoy the duet for the National Anthem, never as amazing as Whitney’s version, they do keep trying. I would love to change the Alexa lady to that guy😎. I did get another puzzle completed during the game.
Did anyone watch The Equalizer? That was late for the East coast. I hope they do a repeat this week. They did alive tweet during the show but I missed it. I did get a personal tweet reminding me to watch😍

Yeah, I was too tired to stay up to watch The Equalizer last night but we have CBS All Access so we plan to watch it later on today. I enjoyed the promos for it during the show so I hope it's good!

I forgot about Gwen and Blake's commercial. That was really cute. The one about the Paralympian was probably the best commercial. It was such a great story and really well-made.

I watched most of the game. I wasn't particularly rooting for one team or the other but I was disappointed that it wasn't a more competitive game. I enjoyed all of the commercials you guys have already mentioned, my favorite being Will Ferrell and Norway. I'm still giggling when I think about him ending up in Sweden. 


I did watch The Equalizer and thought it was a  really good show! It's definitely got action sequences but it's also a good mystery as you slowly get more and more clues as to the way she'll bring down the bad guys. I've always enjoyed Queen Latifa and she surely did not disappoint! They've got some fun and quirky supporting characters too. Snappy banter and a nice touch of humor make it appealing for me.


I'm so frustrated though - I'm ending up with 5 programs all airing on Sunday nights, within the same couple of hours, that I want to watch and no DVR option. I know that I'll be watching When Calls The Heart on Hallmark channel live and I'll just have to get The Rookie, The Equalizer, All Creatures Great And Small, and American Idol as I can. I'm sure I can do delayed viewing on the network websites most of the time. The entire rest of the week, there's only 1 show I watch and that's This Is Us on Tuesday night. What are the odds?
