Can you believe it's February already? I had to start this thread because I was excited. My cousin texted me that they have dropped the age for vaccinations down to 65 so that makes me eligible. 5 mins later I was scheduled for Wednesday. She was amazed and said she couldn't get scheduled until March! She lives in a different city. They are pretty organized down here. Have a good week!

ibmjas, you are very lucky! My area's vaccine supply is dangerously low. Some appointments may have to be rescheduled. Our youngest daughter works for Mayo Clinic and received her first dose two weeks ago at the clinic. Our oldest daughter works for the state and received an email from the higher-ups to schedule an appointment. She managed to get one for later this month while my husband and I are still trying to get scheduled.

Well, on Friday they said we'd be getting anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of snow today. So far, we have about 2 feet and it's still lightly snowing. My follow-up appointment with my surgeon was rescheduled for tomorrow but I'll be surprised if it happens. Pleasantly surprised, but surprised.
My mother and step-father in California are scheduled to get their first vaccine today! But my Dad is still waiting here in NJ.
Oddly enough, my sister and her husband got their vaccine two weeks ago. They live in a rural county on the border of California and Nevada. A thousand doses were shipped to a town that barely has a thousand people within an hours drive so they opened it up to anyone who wanted a vaccine who could get there. My sister said she felt a little guilty getting it when so many other people who need it can't, but she wasn't going to pass up the opportunity, especially knowing the vaccines could expire and go unused. Unfortunately, there are a fair amount of people in her area who are refusing to get it, even though they are eligible.

Wow, that's a lot of snow! My sister-I-L got 42 inches in one day a week before Christmas in Binghamton NY. We got 24 inches a couple of days before Christmas about 10 years ago. We hardly ever get any snow.
It's such a shame these vaccinations are so haphazard. I'm thankful I live in an area that has their act together. Hopefully they can ramp up production and get more vaccine produced and delivered.

I hope they are able to continue to get things organized with the vaccines. I believe they are doing everything they can to ramp up what should have been in the works 6 months ago. 82 here today. The North and East are sure getting the snow and soon artic blast. Stay safe people.

I got my vaccine! They freaked me out a little though. Everyone kept asking if it was my 1st or 2nd dose then at the registration desk they said to make sure I got in the 1st vaccine line. I discovered the 1st dose was for Pfizer and the 2nd dose was for Moderna. I didn't think they had ever even studied mixing doses. When I finally got to the nurse, she told me they always make sure both doses are from the same manufacturer, but they get different packages and 3 weeks ago they gave out Moderna as the 1st vaccine. I was relieved to get it explained! My arm was sore about 12 hours later but was fine a couple of hours after that. I felt a little off the next day but didn't get a lot of sleep that night so not sure if it's related to the vaccine.

The Winchester, Virginia, COVID-19 Vaccination program [mentioned in a previous 'How is your week going?' thread] has now been reported by one of the Washington, DC, area TV news stations. The program's vaccination system tracked my original registration, vaccine manufacture, date/time of my first vaccination, and then automatically alerted me for selection of a scheduled time of my second injection which is due on 15 February. I requested it online and was approved immediately. The system created the print-out time approval [you could use your cell phone message if you prefer]. This prevents 'line jumpers' from overwhelming the operation as has reportedly occurred all over the country. The local newspaper has noted that there are so many volunteers that there is a waiting list of qualified people offering to help. Additionally, local church groups, Scout troops, school groups, etc., have offered industrial sized thermos of coffee, water, and cookies for the wait-before-leaving holding area. This truly is community support in action. Winchester has had 2,369 positive cases with 21 deaths. www.nbcwashington.com/news/virginia-community-comes-together-to-achieve-high-vaccination-rate/2564669/?fbclid=IwAR1U1IC0QeQK3-zEcV4kE7m4iHSwbmt2zp_EQIO89YZxpDoMOwqS6CiP8sI
