Hi All,
It's Monday again. Does it seem like it's been a really long time since last Monday or is it just me?
I got my Covid test results today and I'm negative, so I'm a go for surgery on Wednesday. I'm relieved and just looking forward to get it over with and begin recovery.
Right now, I'm just trying to get everything prepared for my husband and daughter to be on their own for a couple of days, and for things to be set up for when I get home from the hospital, so that will monopolize my next couple of days.
So let us know how your week is going.

Prayers for a safe and successful surgery. Yes last week seemed like a month. I look forward to Jan 20th in hopes our country can get back to fighting covid 19 and heal our country. I will be going out kayaking again this week. It is my place to escape the world for a few hours each week. It should be in the high 70’ by the end of the week. The water is cold but the sun is warm 😎

You'll be in my prayers.
Apparently, Dawn's exposure to the COVID-19 positive person has not caught up with us. We are still certainly being careful. Virginia has yet to announce exactly how they are processing immunization scheduling. Hopefully, the instructions will be announced soon.

Our governor gave his yearly State of the State address yesterday, the first day of the new legislative session. He told us the virus is serious (you just realized that?) and kids belong in school. He said the state won't fund empty seats, and wants all students to return to in class learning. Teachers are having sick-outs due to in person learning in some districts. Right now my county is vaccinating health care people, teachers, and the general public 75 and older. The Cardinals stadium has been turned into a 24/7 vaccination site. The one problem is there aren't enough people to administer the vaccine. Hopefully that problem can get solved quickly so we all can return to some form of normalcy.

PTVJ I hope your surgery goes great and your rehab even better. You know we're all behind you.
I'm on a call list to get vaccinated. If all their appts for the day are done but the vial is not empty, they turn to the call list to make sure no vaccine goes to waste. It seems strange that they wouldn't call up some of the elderly who have later appts. My friend's mom is 95 and her appt is in 2 weeks. Oh well, if they call me I will go.

COVID-19 [Phase 1] vaccination received. Phase 2 injection will be in 28-30 days according to the administrator. I even had my shot record with me just in case. They were amazed - it begins with ROTC Cadet Holmes at University of Iowa in 1961. However, they have a special CDC record card; and, they will tell you to be sure to take a photo on your phone and made a copy because some body is going to need to see proof sometime.

Great news Larryhomes Arizona will let people over 65 try to sign up next Tuesday. I have a couple of friends who were able to get on the sign up already. They both said that it took over 2 1/5 hours on line to try and get it done. One gets to go very close the other one has to be at the big stadium that is 50 miles away at 5am. They say they will be opening up new places to get the shot closer to me next week. I hope I get one of those slots. My daughter could have received her first dose last week but she doesn't trust that it's ok. So until her job requires her to get it she will not. Even thought her Mom keeps telling her it's OK

Wow, no delay here at all. We had to schedule appointment times online a couple days ago. I arrived at 0900 [0910 appointment] and was immediately processed and sitting awaiting call for injection in two minutes. There were 25-30 people waiting but moving rapidly. They had at least a dozen vaccination stationed staffed by final year student nurses who were being supervised by nurse instuctors from the local community college. Then, I was actually sitting in the '15 minute before depature' holding area at 0915. The biggest bottle-neck was the limited number of socially-distanced seats in holding area. That was being solved by opening bleachers in the basketball court. Winchester's population is 25,000-26,000; however, there are many people who are retired from federal jobs in DC area. The first three days of the vaccinations are for first responders, medical personnel, and people over 75. So, they had a really well planned, strict procedure for entire process. I certainly was pleased about that. Honestly, it was like 'shots day' for an Army unit...'Get in line and keep moving!' Finally, I honestly feel that the injections must be safe because no one would knowingly risk the medical and health care population first thing. Hopefully, I am not just a naive person!

Wisconsin is dragging its feet as usual. We are on a list but no idea when it will happen. An idiot of a pharmacist destroyed hundreds of doses because he feels they will alter your DNA. People that were to get first doses are still waiting. It's just plain sad about the incompetence here. Meanwhile, people are still getting sick and dying. On a happier note, my beloved celebrated her 77th Birthday yesterday. She heard from all the people she loves and had the kind of day she wanted. Today, our daughter, SIL, and family have rented a movie theater and we are going to the movies!!! You preorder your snacks and everything is done with masks and distancing. We can be safe and still have fun with family. Win-Win. I also had an eye exam this week and all went well. Masks, shields, and distancing were done.

I made it back home! They had to keep me in the hospital longer than expected because my blood pressure kept dropping. You know it's a problem when they have five people hovering when you try to use your walker to get to the bathroom! They had to wait for all of the anesthesia to leave my system and then change my pain meds. Apparently, some people get high on oxy, but it didn't do much for my pain and it dropped my blood pressure so low I came close to passing out. But I'm doing better now. The pain isn't so bad and I'm home. I just get tired pretty easily but I'm sure that will get better with time. I start physical therapy on Wednesday. I'm really glad to be home. Thanks to all for the well wishes. I appreciate them.

Glad to hear your doing well. When I had oxy the first time, it gave me the 'willies'. I have never had it again. Just be careful you don't try to do too much too quickly.
