I hope everyone is happy to ring out 2020 and ring in 2021!
We've got an excited night planned. We have take-out Chinese food, which has been really good, and are planning to watch the ball drop. But that's generally what we do on New Year's Eve, at least in the last decade or so.
So what are you up to tonight and tomorrow?

I went on a peaceful kayak trip with a few locals this afternoon. Tonight I’m comforting my kitties as all of the fireworks is not sitting well. I fear for my 3 wild kittens. They are about 9 months old. There are big booms going on around the neighborhood. My RV is in the shop so they can’t hide under it. I’m afraid they are running to escape. We will see if I see them tomorrow. I don’t understand why they have to make such big booming sounds.

Happy New Year to all. 2021 has to be better than 2020! Last night I was so tired that I went to bed at 11. Even slept through all the firecrackers going off in our neighborhood. Our youngest daughter and her boyfriend are going to take down the outdoor lights for us some time this weekend. I told her I'd make chili. It'll warm us up nicely. The daytime temps have been in the 50s and overnight in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Unfortunately the air quality is awful so we can't use our fireplace. This happens every year at this time. I hope everyone has a great weekend and a nice start to the new year.

We watched the ball drop on Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve last night. (And what was Dick Clark's contract that ABC had to continue to call it that long after the man has passed away?) Overall, we found it depressing and just made us want 2020 to end even more.
The music acts were okay to subpar, and the fact that Times Square was empty was glaring. I've been to Times Square on NYE twice, years ago. Although it looks like chaos on TV, it's actually very well run and we had a lot of fun. I don't know if I'll ever do it again, but I hope people are able to go back next year. Seeing Times Square empty was kind of sad.
But now we're into 2021, and although I'm sure things won't turn around immediately, and I think January and February are still going to be rough, I have to believe we are on the road back to things being better.
Today, we're having a New Year's dinner with my dad. Hope everyone else is enjoying the start of their New Year.

Christine, my husband said his production company is still called Dick Clark Productions even though he's been gone over 8 years. There are several music awards shows and the Golden Globes under that production company. What a sweet deal if you can get one, lol.
