Merry Christmas Everyone,
I hope you are all safe and well and as happy as you can possibly be under Covid restrictions.
I'm currently baking three batches of cookies for tonight but wanted to jump on and wish everyone a wonderful holiday.
So far, I've lost one present. That's never happened to me before. It's something for my daughter that's supposed to be under the tree tomorrow morning. It was the first present to arrive and I can remember holding it in my handing and thinking I had to hide it so she didn't see it. The problem is, now I can't remember where I put it. I've checked all of my normal hiding spots and it still hasn't turned up. It's making me kind of crazy. Thankfully, she has other gifts and probably won't notice. Hopefully, it will turn up at some point. Maybe it can be a Valentine's gift!
Hope your Christmas is filled with less drama and more fun. Let us know how it's going.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season. I am baking the Christmas "Hoska". It is a Christmas bead that was part of my husband's family tradition. It is nice to have a lemon tree to add the fresh lemon zest to the dough. I was going to send one to my kids in the east but with the overload with presents and the vaccine I decided they would due without this year. I also didn't send out cards for the same reason. As for finding your lost gift, you might try praying to St Anthony. He is the keeper of lost things. It does work once in awhile. My husband was good at finding things I mad lost in the house.

My brother-in-law and his girlfriend made a surprise visit today. I loved seeing them (even if it was only on the front porch with masks on), and I'm glad we got to exchange presents, but their timing caused me to burn a batch of cookies.
However, I can overlook the burnt batch of cookies since they also gave us a batch of bagels from Brooklyn along with cream cheese and lox. I think we're going to save it for tomorrow morning's breakfast after opening Santa's gifts.
On the upside, all of the cookies are baked and I just have to get the pie in the oven.
The downside is that my husband works for FedEx and probably won't get out of the office until 8pm or later. The last few years he'd made it out by 6:30pm, in time to join everyone for dinner. We're going to try and hold off on dinner as long as we can tonight in the hopes that he can join.
Things are a real mess in the shipping world, especially here in NJ. I hear horror stories every night when my husband gets home. Two packages from my Mom haven't shown up. They made it to NJ but are now sitting either at the airport of a shipping hub and have been for the last few days. Something my Dad ordered was supposed to be delivered three days ago but is MIA. And I'm told that the present that my daughter picked out for me has been bounced between two shipping hubs here in NJ for the last few days; no one know why.
But, that just means there will be something to look forward to after the holiday.
Hope you're all keeping things Merry.
Christine

Tonight we're enjoying a shrimp dinner and a special cherry dessert, then relaxing in front of the fire with the tree on and listening to Christmas music for a couple of hours. It's a wonderful way to decompress after the rush of getting things ready! Tomorrow is just going to be a chill out day. My only plan is to watch the Hallmark When Calls The Heart movie tomorrow night. I adore that series! I hope everyone has a sense of peace and hope as we celebrate!

Merry Christmas! I got up this morning to a cold, cloudy dreary day. It had rained some time overnight. We can't use our fireplace today because it's a no burn day. The same will be true for New Year's Eve and Day. Our kids are coming over at noon to open presents and we'll eat around 1:30. I'm cooking a prime rib (super cheap last week at Safeway) and the kids are bringing roasted veggies, rolls, and something for a toast. I'm also having mashed potatoes, broccoli, and a big apple pie for dessert. We might even have a game of Continental Rummy after dinner. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Merry Christmas to All. We zoomed and opened gifts with family yesterday. We also got some Zoom time with Granddaughter who lives in Beaverton, Oregon. It was a very nice day. We have touched base or heard from other family members. It has been very nice for a Covid holiday. Today, we are just "playing" with our new stuff and having a nice dinner later. Have a safe and Happy Holiday ALL

Well, my husband made it home by 8:30pm for a late Christmas Eve dinner. My Dad, who loves to cook, made LOTS of food. We had steak and lobster tails and more appetizers and sides than I can list. Then we did a Zoom call to open presents with my Mom and stepfather in California and my sister and her family who were literally on the beach in Hawaii! All things considered, it was a very nice Christmas Eve. Then this morning, my daughter got her presents from Santa, and we lounged around in our pajamas and had bagels, cream cheese and lox. This afternoon we drove over to my mother-in-laws and exchanged presents in her doorway. Now we are eating some of the fantastic left overs from last night's for dinner. So despite everything, we've still had a very merry Christmas.

This scene may bring back memories. Certainly does for me. It was originally a Plymouth ad!
