Hi Everyone,
I can’t believe it’s going to be Christmas in just a few short days. I knew December would fly by, and it did. I’m still waiting on a couple of presents to be delivered. I’ve wrapped about half of the presents so far, and we’ve gotten a jump on making cookie dough. So far, so good.
My Mom and I were just discussing how few Christmas cards we’ve gotten so far this year. I think it’s due in part to the mail being back up, my Mom thinks that people just don’t feel up to sending cards this year. I guess time will tell which one of us is correct.
I’ve been checking in on my cousin who got Covid over Thanksgiving. She’s still very fatigued but recovering. The odd thing is, she’s always been someone who was warm all the time, and now she’s freezing. She says she can’t seem to ever get warm. Hopefully, that will change with time.
I don't even want to look at the Covid #s any more; they just seem to go up and up and up!
So let us know how your week is going so far.

Last night I went out to view the Christmas Star. My neighbor had her giant telescope set up so we could even see the rings of Saturn. I'm lucky to live were we rarely have clouds so it was very visitble. I will post a picture I took of the 2 stars. You have to look carefully as my phone didn't take great zoom pictures of this. I still don't get why some pictures load sideways This morning I was in charge of our St Vincent Christmas food boxes from our church this year. We served 35 families food boxes with a Christmas dinner. We were given a lot of food from Safeway/Albertson's this year that really helped. With covid we did the drive up and put the food boxes in the trunk. It worked so well I think we will continue to use this method of distribution.

My husband and I have gone outside every night for the past several days to see the two planets. It's too bad our telescope doesn't work anymore. We used to see Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons. We can't see the Milky Way due to all the lights, but the Big Dipper is still visible.
We finished our grocery shopping today for the week. The stores are all crazy busy now. We finished our Christmas shopping at least 3 weeks ago. Luckily we no longer have to hide things, although our oldest daughter (she's 30) feels the stockings hanging up. This year I didn't put tags on the boxes, to her dismay, lol! I guess once a kid, always a kid.
Stay safe everyone and enjoy the holiday however you spend it.

After having a record shattering 17 inches of snow in November, we were seriously looking at a green Christmas. This week the weather folks said we had one shot at an inch or two of snow tomorrow and most people were happy to hear it. WELL, be careful what you wish for! That possible inch or two has now turned into a major storm with blizzard force winds, a half foot of snow and wind chills of -25 to -30 right behind it! Gotta love the way the weather keeps us on our toes! So tomorrow we'll be looking at around 6 inches of snow and winds of 40 to 50 MPH. Tomorrow night we fall below zero for the actual temperature and the winds will still be howling so we'll have the very dangerous wind chills from tomorrow night through Christmas Eve. Christmas day will be colder than normal but not anywhere near as extreme. Hello white Christmas! We'll be buried in drifts I'm sure!
I was so proud of myself last week, feeling I had everything ready with gifts and cards and just had some goodies to make and package. HA! I've spent all week cooking and baking and doing dishes and tending to last minute details! I hadn't figured in all of the extra deliveries since we weren't actually gathering with anyone either. I just finished my second batch of fudge tonight and have one more to make and cut tomorrow, then we can make the final delivery. I hope that by tomorrow night I can heave a sigh and relax as the snow flies and the wind wails and temps drop!
Hope and pray everyone stays safe, especially if you're in the path of this storm.

Unfortunately, it was too cloudy to see the Jupiter / Saturn conjunction, which was disappointing as we had our telescope ready. There's still some snow on the ground but I don't think it will last much longer, and it looks like we'll be getting rain instead of snow for Christmas.
We're in the middle of our holiday baking. We're doing a chocolate babka and four different types of cookies. I still have a few presents to wrap. And there are two items I ordered weeks ago that have yet to arrive. One appears to be stuck at the US Postal Center in LA. Apparently, they are extremely shorthanded there because they have so many employees out with Covid.
And there's one present I just can't find! I know it's here somewhere but I've checked all of my normal hiding places and it's not turning up. It must be here somewhere and it's driving me crazy! Wish me luck finding it. I think I might need it.

We are cloudy almost all week so THANKS for the pictures. We so wanted to see it in person but, so far, no such luck We did our groceries early in the day this week but stores were busier than we are used to. We delivered gifts and cookies to our family yesterday. Masked and distanced, of course. We will Zoom and open presents tomorrow afternoon. We live across the state from Bobbie and have no snow or any in our forecast for the next 6 days. Go figure!! A Blessed and Merry Christmas to ALL!!!

I'm a fibber. We got a dusting of snow which covered our grass overnight. It now looks like Christmas Our pond is not completely frozen though which is crazy for Dec. 24. LOL, this whole year has been crazy. Why not end it that way??

Well, we certainly nailed the whole whole Christmas thing! We got 8 or 9 inches yesterday! It's hard to measure because we had blizzard conditions with 40 MPH winds as it came down, so there are bare spots as well as 18" high drifts! It's definitely white! The temp dropped from 44 degrees at noon to zero last night. Today we did make it back up to 5 degrees but with the wind, it felt like -15 to -20 all day. Thankfully, my family is all safe and no one ended up in a ditch or anything. We might see more normal temps in the 20's by Sunday. Sigh......... winter's here ...........

First I wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas!Second, I hope that all the snow, wind, rain and other weather that we all are experiencing doesn't impact any of our celebrations...although I have to admit that it would have been nice if the 8 inches of snow we got last week lasted, but I guess that's one of the reasons we moved from CT to VA. At any rate, I hope you all are safe and can be with the ones you love, either in person or digitally.
