Hello Everyone,
We're less than two weeks away from Christmas and, as usual, I'm scrambling to get everything together and delivered to family and friends.
My husband, daughter, and I bought our Christmas tree yesterday. We live in a small apartment so we get the equivalent of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I look forward to the day we can have a big tree like the ones I had when I was a kid, but that's certainly not happening in 2020. The tree we picked this year is a bit different. I'll post a picture once it's all decorated.
I spoke with my cousin, who got Covid after attending a family Thanksgiving dinner. I'm grateful she's getting better. The horrible headaches have lessened but she's still so fatigued that she said she's probably asleep more than she's awake.
We haven't had more than a dusting of snow so far this year, and it's raining again today which seems to be a trend for Mondays of late, but they are projecting 8 to 10 inches of snow Wednesday into Thursday! I'm not looking forward to that. As if to add insult to injury, my sister keeps sending me pictures and videos of her and her family in Hawaii!
So how is your week going so far? Check in and let us know.

I got the right side of my back zapped today. The left side hardly hurt. The right side really hurt. I went without sedation. I am chillin today and I think I will do the same tomorrow. Hopefully I will get some relief and I will be able to do more again. My daughters best friend got out of the hospital yesterday. She has covid and she got pneumonia. She flew to Mexico for a wedding and got covid. She is a cross trainer so she is in great shape. My daughter wanted to go but her 2 jobs both said she would have to loose 14 days of work so she stayed home. I told her that her job just saved her. I hope her friend continues to recover. I am missing another cat from my wild cat family. One of the sisters. There have been coyotes in the area. They are slowly getting taken away.

Both a good and bad week. I found out one of my cousins has terminal cancer. Her family is gathering for Christmas to say goodbye. We are old enough that we are losing someone very regularly now. On a good note, I celebrated my 75th Birthday on the 12th. My SIL came up with a great idea. We both drove ourselves and we all went to Lambeau Field for the light and fireworks Xmas show. You remain in your car , tune to 89.7 , and the show is broadcast on the west wall of the stadium with fireworks after. we parked next to each other so we could talk. Afterwards, we drove to the drive through Lights On The Fox beautiful displays and it was awesome. Then, we went to a nearby park, parked close, chatted and they gave me my presents. It was a great , safe way to celebrate in this time of Covid. I am most appreciative . It was great to see them Rikki and I are going to make cookies this week. We also have most of our cards done. I just have to wrap Rikki's presents yet so we are good. Happy safe week all

Geezer, I'm so glad that you got to do something fun for your birthday! That was a wonderful way to connect safely with the family and enjoy the season as well.
I got my cards and packages out and am busy making my homemade caramels for friends and family here in town now. I have 2 Christmas novels left to read and a gazillion Hallmark Christmas movies waiting to be viewed so I'll be steeped in Christmas for a while yet! It feels good!

They just called off school for tomorrow, both in-school and virtual. It's snowing now and there will be blizzard conditions later on tonight. They say due to high-winds, there will be possible power outages, which is why they've decided to cancel school instead of going all virtual. My area is right on the midline for this storm, where below the line could get about 6 inches and above it could get up to 18, so we'll see what we end up with. Upstate NY and Pennsylvania are slated to get about 2 feet. I'm not a fan of snow, but I'm grateful not to have to go out in it. I wish my husband didn't have to, but he'll likely still have to go to work tomorrow. I'm also hoping we avoid those power outages! But there's food in the fridge, all my Christmas cards went out, all my gifts have been ordered and the majority have arrived. So all that's left for the holiday is gift wrapping and baking. I'm planning to make some cookie dough this week so I can just bake them for Christmas next week. Plus two more projects to get done for work by this weekend. I hope everyone else is safe and warm.

Here in Winchester, Virginia, we only had 6.2 inches of snow all last Winter...startling lack of snow never experienced in the area before. So far today, we have over eight inches. Now, the wind is really howling. As an old 'Iowa boy', this is no problem even with the shoveling. Of course, the dogs [especially Barclay who is a really tiny litter-runt beagle] are not pleased at all. Even the pathway cleared into the back yard does not impress Barclay even though Bailey [the lab] thinks it was just unnecessary. Dawn and I are warm and satisfied since we can survive without any problem for at least a week. Even our son and his family are hunkered-down on the far side of town. So, all those homemade goodies and no where to go and no visitors who just 'drop by'! Dawn's traditional British seasonal baked goods have become well known among our neighbors. Cannot worry about calories during the Christmas season...don't be foolish.

Love the way you think, larryholmes! Snowstorms give us a nice opportunity to just hunker down and enjoy the peace of it all if you can avoid having to go out in it. And being well stocked with calorie free goodies makes it even better!

We only got about 6 inches of snow, so not too bad, but enough that my daughter got to go out and build a snowman with her grandfather. (FYI, we share a two-family house with my Dad, so he is the one grandparent my daughter still gets to see, even with Covid.)
The Head of one of the school districts in our area that also called a snow day said they could have gone all virtual, but they wanted the kids to have some time away from their computers and go out and play. I thought that was a really great attitude to have for the kids' well-being.
We went all out with our snow day breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. I'm happy that calories don't count on snow days!

Here is the story of our 2020 Christmas tree. We live in a small apartment so we generally have something close to a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. (I look forward to the day we have the space for a big tree to decorate!) We went to a local lot to pick out our tree. The small ones are generally in the back, and there we found this tree. It was lying on the ground like it was thrown there and the bottom half of its branches had all been cut off. At first we joked about how someone had abused this poor, innocent tree, but then we felt sorry for it. Then my husband said it was the perfect tree for 2020 and we all agreed. When we asked about it, the attendant said they had cut the bottom branches off to make wreaths, but the branches on the top half weren’t long enough which is why it was left like this and thrown aside. When we said we wanted to buy it, they offered to cut the bottom off to make it look like a small tree, but being the strange family that we are, we wanted it as is. So now we have what we consider the perfect tree to symbolize 2020. If nothing else, it makes us giggle whenever we see it. Merry Christmas.

You know, this is a perfect end to a crazy year. We live in Wisconsin, for crying out loud, and have had only a dusting of snow thus far in Green Bay. I know Bobbie has had some but it's been lacking here. Go figure We have 4 cookies made, 1 to do today and 1 tomorrow. The tasting has been fun and we make them together which is a bonus. Awesome tree Christine

Dawn completed Christmas scene in window seat overlooking our back yard. We need to rehang the partially collapsed string of lights.
