RG, this one is for you!!!! Back when you were describing your paving extravaganza (which I thoroughly enjoyed!!!!) you mentioned this: "Does anyone remember the old Heinz Ketchup commercial from the 70's where Carly Simon's song Anticipation was played while it took forever for a dollop of ketchup to come out of the bottle? (By the way, isn't dollop a great word?)"Yes, I think dollop is a great word! I just started streaming Monk (never watched it when it was on TV) and this conversation got me giggling and I immediately thought of your note. Here goes: From Monk, Season 2 Episode 4 Mr. Monk Goes to the Circus Sharona has been traumatized by a bad incident at the circus involving an elephant (she has been afraid of elephants all her life) and now that they're back home Monk is trying to console her with some hot chocolate that he is making. Monk, carrying in a small mound of whipped cream on his hand to show her: Is this a dollop? Sharona: What? Monk: A dollop. It says add one dollop of whipped cream. Sharona: I don't know, I think a dollop is like a teaspoon. Monk: No, it doesn't say teaspoon, it says a dollop. Sharona: It doesn't matter, it doesn't have to be exact. It's like a pinch. Monk: How many pinches to a dollop? Sharona: I don''t know. Monk: Well, maybe it's more like a schmear, like 3 pinches to a schmear. Or... ah, forget it!

I really loved Monk! It was the greatest. I hated it when it ended.

I never saw it either and I've always wanted to. How many seasons did it run?I wonder if I can get it on DVD. Thanks for the giggles, Fjordmom!

I am streaming it through Amazon Prime Video.....I am really enjoying it, it has a great mix of humor and drama, I am in awe of Tony Shalhoub's portrayal of Monk's OCD and enjoying all the characters! It's a nice break from my usual murder-mystery shows. Sometimes I laugh so loud I scare the cats....things are usually pretty quiet around here. They often come out of hiding when they realize I'm actually carrying on a conversation with an actual human being and not just listening to videos on my iPAD.

Don't know if it's still around, but I remember commercials for Daisy Brand Sour Cream....the tag line was "a dollop of Daisy". And I do remember the Heinz "Anticipation" commercial.

If you're a Tony Shalhoub fan, have you seen The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? It's on Amazon. I'm pretty addicted to it as well.

We have Daisy sour cream here. That’s the brand I love.

I. too, remember both the Heinz and Daisy commercials. The ketchup doesn't seem to flow so slowly today, especially with the upside down squeeze bottles. As far as a dollop is concerned, it's hard to give a precise explanation, but we all know one when we see one, lol.

Fjordmom, We loved Monk. We started watching near the end of the second to last season (there just HAS to be a better, less wordy way to say that) and then just HAD to watch all the shows. I remember calling Charter Communications to ask for a larger cable box as we maxed out on how many shows to save when Mrs. G started recording repeats! Yes ladies, I know, I'm well trained.
You are going to thoroughly enjoy all the episodes, in the immortal words of Joe Namath, I Guarantee It! And no, I am not talking about medicare advantage.
