Thank you everyone for sharing what's going on in your life and I hope all are able to recuperate from illnesses and aches/pains. I've enjoyed looking up all the Swedish and Norwegian foods that have been mentioned to find out what the heck they are! I bought some pulla today!!!! It's a Finnish braided cardamom bread, just very slightly sweet, and I love cardamom. This area of Massachusetts has a large Finnish population. Life is pretty uneventful here, which really is a blessing in light of what's happening in the world. I started doing some Christmas decorating outside the week of Thanksgiving and got my tree today at our local farmstand downtown, precut. nathanfan1, I love your tree routine!!!!! Christmas has always been special to me, both for tree/decorating but also MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC!!! I used to love walking through a small local tree farm, searching for just the right tree, I had to take one quick pass and then circle around again, and again, to make a final choice, and cut my own. Those days are gone now because of my bad knees and also most small seasonal tree farms are gone now. They were not commercial, so trees could be hit or miss, but I think it made things more interesting. Stay the course!

My friend that was on the ventilator died last night. She was really a great person. She was very smart, kind, and fun. She and her husband travelled alot. I loved seeing all her adventures on Facebook. Even this year they took a lot of day trips to go hiking or for a motorcycle ride. I know they had been careful. I really don't know how they became infected. Per capita, Indiana has the 2nd most hospitalizations. It's difficult to comprehend how some people who get this virus can have no symptoms at all, while others lose their lives. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your friend. I hope you can find comfort in knowing your friend will always hold a place in your heart. Please, continue to take care of yourself and your family.

My daughter came over last night. We had a great visit and I hugged her before she left. There's something quite freeing about already having Covid. I know some people are getting reinfected but I figure I'm good for a couple of months anyway.

I just had to make an emergency run to Target for more Christmas lights because you know, you can never have enough Christmas lights. They were almost completely sold out except for the more expensive LED lights in weird colors! I heard a lot of people were going all out for Christmas this year. It must be true!

If I can recommend one thing this holiday season, it's if you have to have something shipped to arrive before Christmas, do it NOW!
As I have family and friends in the shipping industry, I can tell you that it is an absolute nightmare this year. They didn't plan well for the Covid/Holiday rush. I'm hearing stories about Christmas trees from major retailers sitting on warehouse docks for days or weeks awaiting pickup. Whole trailers of outbound shipments ready to go out from Target and getting left behind and delayed.
As far as shipping goes, it's a mess out there so plan accordingly!

...That was impressive!!!!!... Do you have have trained dogs like that for your goats? Our lab seems to believe such controls are part of her 'job' when she and the beagle run around our yard. Barclay often seems to encourage Bailey until Bailey goes into her 'herding' mode. Then Barclay doesn't want all that attention at all. However, a few minutes later they repeat the event until both are finally tired of the game. Of course, we just watch without trying to control them. They are having too much fun to care about us. We are useful as providers of food and treats plus someone to open the door when they really need to get out! No dogs, just 2 indoor only cats . The goats do a lot of jostling at the hay rack, and head butting, but they will settle down together after eating and lay around chewing their cud, then the 5 of them will run off into their outer paddock and graze and root around. They like to be up high and like to jump up onto the flat roof of their little outside shelter and lounge up there. I know they use dogs for herding goats, but I can’t imagine anyone doing anything like the sheep extravaganza!

Once when we were in England to see Dawn's mom and dad, we went to a herding competition. Our two sons immediately wanted to train their dog to do this. One of the dog handlers spent about a half hour talking to them and letting them give commands to his dogs. Simple things but so greatly appreciated. Then, he did a couple minutes of whistles and arm waving that had his dogs all over at blinding speed then suddenly rushing to his side then quietly sitting. That was such a super experience for all of us.
