We've made it to November! 2020 is winding down. Unfortunately, that means cold weather, of which I'm not a fan. Today we had 23 mph winds! It was also recycling day and although our county is changing over to recycling bins with covers, they haven't distributed them to our town yet. So due to the high winds, there are now bottles, cans, and cardboard all up and down the street. It's a mess and I just hope it doesn't all end up in the river that's nearby.
As far as Covid goes, our state had almost 32,000 new cases in October. Over the summer, we had less than 10,000 per month, so cases are definitely going up. My county had over 600 new cases last month where we were down to 200 in August.
And a doctor in our town came down with Covid. He's been practicing here for 30 years. Unforuntately he's on a respirator, has been transferred to another hospital.
I'm really hoping that November goes out happier than it has come in.
But how is everyone else doing this week?

I hope November goes out happier too! Very windy here today/tonight, finally the 4 inches of snow we got Thursday into Friday is gone, nighttime temps going up slowwwwly (19 Friday night, 24 Saturday night). Too early to know how this week is going to go, but I have made a list!!!!!!!!! which includes doing all those outside put-away tasks that I keep blathering on about, hopefully making a trip to the wildlife refuge/ocean on Thursday. Temps are supposed to go up to the low 60s end of week into weekend, possibly a little higher, so time to get going on all those tasks before snow comes again!

Well, yard work is suspended until further notice. Dawn had not been feeling well plus stiffening joint pains. Especially one knee was giving her fits [she had lost a kneecap as result of a childhood motorbike accident]. Then, her opposite side foot became very painful. In over 50 years, I have never seen her in such pain as it migrated to anguish. She finally she agreed to go on ‘sick call’. She now has a large ‘boot’ on her foot for a possible stress fracture - more xrays to follow. Even more worrying, the pains in her knee plus shoulder and neck were lingering. Reluctantly, she agreed to go for lab tests. She has Lyme Disease! Of course, our two dogs sense that something is wrong with ‘mom’. They have learned that no snuggling or bumping can occur. I am a good survival cook which solves that. Also, her tea cup must never be empty for too long. I am also learning to ‘…stop hovering…’ but remain relentless in monitoring taking all medications as prescribed.

Gee whiz, we are all starting our week with problems.
Wisconsin went over 30% with positive cases yesterday. The morning paper predicts it is going to get much worse in the coming weeks. Hell of a way to start the week.
To make things worse, our 24 yr. old granddaughter tested positive for Covid. She has symtoms and is quarantined. She is an EMT/ambulance driver and has been in harms way since the beginning. Her Mom(our daughter) has cold like symtoms and is waiting for her Covid test results. Please say a little prayer for them. Our daughter is 53 and we are worried about her.

Geezer and Larry, so sorry to hear about your loved ones. I continue to pray daily for the health of our people. There are so many dire predictions concerning the next few months and I fear that this virus is going to end up affecting all of us in one way or another. About all I can do is continue to pray and stay locked down at home, hoping to still be around when we come out on the other side.
Fjordmom, I feel your pain with the snow! After 11 plus inches in October and nearly 2 weeks of temps below freezing, we're finally getting some warmer weather. We STILL have a few piles of snow in the yard where Steve plowed but the rest is gone. We looked at a white landscape for 11 days! We better enjoy the rest of this week though because on Sunday, we're headed right back down into the deep freeze with high temps next week struggling to get out of the 30's.

The numbers are climbing all over the country. I have started camping again with my 2 groups. We are staying safe and taking precautions. I had a Lumbar Block procedure done yesterday on my back. I have 2 more in the next few weeks. Hopefully this will give me a few years with less back pain and issues. I do feel much pain relief today I am looking forward to cooler temps. We are still about 12 degrees above normal. This weekend when I go camping it will be dropping over 30 degrees. Guess I should pack my warm PJ's and long pants. I am looking forward to another kayak trip. Depending on the results from the election I might need to get away and regroup.

Fjordmom, yes, our temps are going up into next week and it has me thinking that it’s time to get done whatever needs doing outdoors while the sun shines. larryholmes, I’m so sorry for Dawn. I had Lyme disease back in 1999, and it’s a kind of intense joint pain that’s difficult to explain. I remember waking up at night and wanting to cry because I could feel every joint in my body and they all hurt! I think I was on Doxycyline for three weeks, which made me sick to my stomach but it was worth it to get rid of the joint pain! I hope she’s getting treatment and feels much better soon. She’s lucky to have you there to take care of her. Oh geezer2008, I’m so sorry to hear that about your family. Know that they are in my thoughts and I hope your granddaughter’s symptoms are mild and that she recovers quickly. Hopefully, your daughter doesn’t have it at all! Hang in there.
