I know this thread is a little late. It's actually 20 minutes past Halloween on the East coast, but it's been a busy day.
Our town did allow trick-or-treating, asking that masks be worn (and not just the costume ones) and people try to give out candy without contact. It actually made the night more fun. Folks were very creative about handing out their candy. Some just had it out on bowls or tables, but others came up with special contraptions or had whole themes surrounding their candy displays.
It felt like people were even more excited for the holiday this year than in previous years. I think that's because everyone needed something to celebrate that felt a little normal. At my house, we gave out more candy than we had in a while.
My daughter was a Hufflepuff (Harry Potter fans will understand) and her friend was a giant chicken. I'll post photos soon.
Hope you all enjoyed the holiday. Happy Halloween!

I put pieces of candy on a TV tray on the porch spread out so no one would have to touch something that someone else had touched or even ring the doorbell. I sat outside for awhile but no one came (we're at the bottom of a cul de sac that has 4 houses and never have a lot of trick or treaters). I went back in figuring my Ring motion detector would warn me when kids were coming up and I could greet them. Well, it went off and when I got to the door, 3 teenage boys were running down the end of my long driveway and had taken all 20 pieces of candy. I was really ticked! I put 4 pieces of candy on the table after that. The little girls across the street came over so that was fun to see them. 2 hours later I shut the door. I didn't expect a lot but only had 3 thieves and 2 halloweeners. Didn't even get to see the grandkids this year. We did have a neat sunset though.

In another section of town, there were teenagers who went through and grabbed everyone's bowls of candy from an entire block. Many people were upset not just because they lost all the candy but their special Halloween bowls too. It's sad and infuriating that some people have to try and ruin something good for everyone else. I wonder if anyone got their pictures on their door cameras. Not that I want them going to jail, but being made to publicly apologize and perhaps reimburse people for their candy, and maybe some community service wouldn't be a bad idea, in my opinion. But our Halloween was good. And here is the photo of my daughter and her friend. Kate is a Hufflepuff (Harry Potter) and her friend was a giant chicken!

Can't miss that giant chicken! No kidding! I lost count of how many people slowed down while driving by and began waving at us. Each time, I did a double take to figure out if we knew them...but no, they were simply waving at the giant chicken.

One more Halloween tidbit. We've had squirrels begin eating our jack-o-lanterns before, but this year one of our neighbors caught one stealing candy! I guess everyone gets to have some on Halloween.

I was camping with my all women's group. they had a pumpkin carving contest and we put out the pumpkins in front of our rigs so people could walk around after dark and view them. I didn't get any pictures sorry. They were very cool. I did put out some of my Halloween rocks that I had painted. I didn't want to clean out a pumpkins. They was a very Halloween full moon that was peeking thru the clouds. We usually don't get many clouds so this was a treat and it did make the moon look much more with the theme of the night. I also took a few pictures of the many roadrunner who were running around the campground. I gave it a small end of my breakfast croissant. I still don't understand why it likes to turn some pictures sideways??
