Hi All,
It’s the final week of September. Last week, it was down to 40 degrees and today it’s back up to 80. I’ll wear my sandals and my long skirt for as long as I can!
My Mom and step-father have officially picked a lot, a model, and signed a contract for a home here in NJ, but it will take about a year to build. They’ll be renting an apartment in California until then. Apparently, things worked out for the best because the exact area they were originally looking at homes in Napa Valley is now on fire!
Yesterday, they were able to meet up with my sister and her family for my niece’s 4th birthday. It was just them, and they brought presents and a My Little Pony themed cake to the park. From the photos, it looks like they all had a great time.
On Wednesday, I have the Lupus foundation coming to pick up a bunch of items we’re donating. I currently have everything crammed into my hallway, and a few more things in a closet. I have to haul it all outside by 7am Wednesday morning, and wouldn’t you know it but the weather report is calling for rain! Now, I’m looking for a tarp to cover everything so it doesn’t all get ruined. Wish me luck!
Okay, how are things going in your neck of the woods. Let us know!

My spin bike finally arrived. I have it out of the box but it says it takes 2 people to put it together. I have 2 friends from my camping group coming over tomorrow to help. I am so lucky to have this group. My new inflatable kayak is scheduled to arrive on the 30th. It was scheduled to be shipped from Calif on the 27th. I was hoping to be able to go to a nice quiet lake to test it out. Unfortunately for me they are shutting off the water from the dam early this year and it will be cut back on Oct 2nd. So I hopefully get it on the 30th. Test inflating it in my house and then go out the next morning to go on my first trip at 6:30am the next morning. I have a friend who has done kayaking on lakes only and a guy from the FB group of Salt River Kayakers who has done this run before to help guide us away from places that could cause problems. I have gone down the river on a tube but never in a kayak. I thought it was pretty tame when I did the tube a few years ago. I have not been in a kayak since I went out in the ocean when we were on Maui. My Grandson and I did a trip along the coast and into a bat cave. I had no issues or concerns on that trip. I use to teach Kayaking to the girls at the campfire camp back when I was in college. There was a guy from the local group that kind of had me freaking out as he said I should not try this for my first trip. Oh well, if you don't hear from me after the 1st you will know what happened. I am still waiting to hear when my RV carport will be installed

Can I join your goat? I have been very frustrated recently with not having things delivered on time. I have been very patient and kind on the phone but I want to scream and slam the phone down..wait we can't do that anymore with cell phones... anyway here is what I have been going thru: 1. My spin bike I ordered 2 months ago. It arrive in Phoenix the end of August but didn't get to my house until this week. I finally, with the help of 2 friends, got it assembled today. I finally get to start getting some exorcise again. 2 My kayak was suppose to arrive tomorrow so I could go on the river before the dam shuts down this Friday. Calling today they don't even have confirmation that it ever shipped on the 27th like they had heard. So now my plans of getting people together for this amazing river trip might be gone 3. My RV carport that I ordered back in May has a 50% chance of being installed this Saturday. I had to cancel my bottle baby shift on Saturday just in case they actually show up and get it put up. With the way my luck in going I will miss my weekly kitten fix and still not get my RV carport installed. 4. My internet just went up $15 a month and it has been going on and off this last month. And they raise the rate. I think I need to open a bottle of wine...

This is the way today is going so far. Perhaps Fjordmom will appreciate this. (Click on the picture to view it full size.) Well, isn't that the cutest little kid!!!! I have to agree with those thoughts. And I'll add one from observing my latest kids: jump up in the hay rack and lie down in the tray...eat if I want, take a nap if I want. Looks like it might have a short-sleeved childrens shirt on . I suppose if I want to try dressing up my goats I better hurry up while I have two smallish kids, 'cuz it ain't going to happen with the older ones!!!!!!!

All is well here and the leaves are turning....I love this time of year, especially when the poplar and yellow maple leaves are in the height of color....just makes the world seem more golden and warm! We have very dry conditions now, no outdoor burning/campfires in some places. We are going to get some rain tonight and tomorrow which we desperately need at this point. I'm just poking along doing assorted projects that should be completed before it gets too cold. I am really hoping to get at least one trip in to get my ocean fix....it's been almost a year-and-a-half due to COVID restrictions and so many people/kids having the time to go to the wildlife refuge/beach!!!! The good news is that the refuge has limited parking and when full, they turn people away; the bad news is that you either have to luck out or get there at dawn (it's an hour-and-a-half away). I'm one of those people who LOVES to have the beach to myself, or at least only a FEW people. One year I got there and the beach was totally enveloped in fog, I was the only one there on that section of the beach and it was the most peaceful, almost magical experience! ProudTVJunkie, I hope you manage to get all your donations out without getting them and yourself drenched. And I'm happy to hear your parents decided against Napa; I didn't want to say anything, but that is an area that's wildfire prone. tycho657, I hope things start going your way and that you get to make the kayaking trip! And I laughed when you talked about not being able to slam your phone down! Internet via cellular hotspot in this neck of the woods is NOT exactly spectacular on a good day, and now that everyone is working at home ... well, I must admit I haven't yet cracked the screen or thrown it across the room, but I sure do slam it down hard sometimes!!!!!!

tycho657 Congrats on your new spin bike! I’m jealous. I hope you get your kayak. I’ve never been, but my Dad has a regular, full-size kayak and he kayak’s regularly. It helps that we live close to a river. Fjordmom, our leaves are just starting to turn here. I hope they last a while. The last couple of years it’s seemed as though we’ve had big storms blow in just when everything got pretty and they knocked all the leaves off the trees. As for me, Woohoo! I got a bunch of stuff out to the Lupus foundation this morning. It poured all night long but stopped around sunrise, so we were able to get up early and put everything on the curb. We just put a tarp down so the bottom of the boxes would get soaked due to the wet grass. I’m so happy to get rid of that stuff. Of course, my husband went through everything last night and “saved” three items, but I’m just happy it wasn’t more. Two of the knickknacks he wanted to save I had him take to work, so at least they’re out of the house. We came up with an idea for my daughter’s 11th birthday. We’re renting a movie theater (one theater in a 12-plex). My daughter gets to invite a bunch of friends. They must wear masks until we are seated and we’ll have the whole theater to ourselves. Everyone gets their own popcorn, soda or water, and a candy. I can't tell you how relieved I am to have these plans settled. Now I just hope it all goes off okay.

The weather can't make up it's mind. It's beautiful and sunny then cloudy and very windy. It's hard to pick the right clothes for golf and sometimes things change drastically during the round! I absolutely froze Saturday wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt. The weather report said it would be sunny and in the high 60s. I knew that would be warm enough, but when we got to the course it was cloudy and very, very windy out of the north. Of course that made me over dress today for a similar weather report, but the sun was out all day and the 11 mph winds were out of the west so the layers came off quick. This is my favorite time of year.
Our state is doing very well with Covid, EXCEPT for our county and the 2 adjacent counties that have much higher positivity rates that are increasing. We're not a big population area so it's weird. The other 2 counties appear to be because of nursing homes, but there isn't any explanation for our county. Our school board is refusing to release the number of positive cases in the schools. I'm not sure how they can get away with that.
PTVJ, the movie party sounds awesome!

Update.. kayak is till sitting in the harbor on the cargo ship in California. They are hoping for next week. No hurry now as the river will be shut down until spring now. There are some nice lakes with off shoots that will be fun to explore but I was really hoping to float by our Salt River Wild horses. They have been on the river everyday the last couple of weeks. I posted a couple of puzzle with them. RV carport has been pushed back to next Wed. I will believe it when I see it. Needless to say I opened up a bottle of wine this week.

tycho657, I feel like we should start placing bets about your carport going up. ibmjas, so far, the idea has been a bigger hit than I expected. I thought more parents would say no, but they haven't! Everyone seems thrilled to give us their kid for the afternoon. Between the kids being Kate's friends and me having been a class parent the last five years, I know all of the kids pretty well and I don't expect too many issues with the restrictions. They'll have to wear masks until they take their seats and we're currently trying to figure out the safest seating while still allowing them to have some fun. They'll each get their own popcorn, soda, and candy. It's all been set up via phone and email, but tomorrow we go to the theater to drop off the movie, check out the theater and choose the candies. Needless to say, after a spring and summer with very little interaction with her friends, she's very excited.

I see that they are giving Trump remdesivir (this isn't the experimental drug he was also given). This is the same drug my daughter's MIL got. She still progressed to a very serious case. I guess we'll see if it's effective for Trump.

PTVJ, instead of placing bets on if tycho's RV carport will be installed, we could do a poll with 2 choices: 1, a sure thing; 2, chances are slim and none. Sorry Teresa, I didn't mean to be so negative, LOL! The movie theater party is a great idea. I'm sure the parents will appreciate a little time away from their kids. ibmjas, I heard today that if Trump is going to take a turn for the worse, it'll probably be in the day 7-11 range. That's apparently when most people experience adverse effects.
