I have some very sad news. Our PFJ member, java (aka Vince) has passed away. Java was originally a member of The 12th (the Castle fan board that existed before PFJ) and that’s where we first “met.” He was an interesting, intelligent man whose family emigrated here from Vietnam when he was young. I enjoyed conversations with Vince on a great many subjects including food, fashion, and of course, Castle. In January of 2016, Vince had a severe headache after going on a skiing trip with his family. He was soon diagnosed with meningitis. (I don’t recall if it was viral or bacterial). He was in the hospital for over six months and went through multiple surgical and medical procedures. Although the illness left him changed, and suffering from occasional seizures, Vince survived. Some of us here were able to visit with him over the last few years. His death today was unexpected and I don’t have many details. I will share them as they come available, along with any information about memorial or other services and addresses if you'd like to send something to his family. If you’d like to share any memories you have of Java/Vince, feel free to do so here. I know I’d love to hear them. Christine

Vince worked hard to make his miracle survival from his illness. I was lucky to meet him. I was sorry to hear of his passing.

I'm so sorry to hear this! He was such a character, his contributions of fashion, Paleo, music, videos were such fun to read, listen to and watch. If we were stumped by some technical aspect of the board in the early days, he could usually help us out. He was a master of finding music info and videos.
And he was such a fighter throughout his illness.
My very favorite memory is the time that he posted a pic of himself in his jeans, which were fashionably ripped, and Castlekat and I had a blast kidding him about it!
He will definitely be missed but hopefully in a better place.

Yes, java helped me out in setting up this board and even worked to save some of our threads from The 12th. One of my favorites was the fashion thread he put together. He managed to save it for me and we have it copied here at PFJ. If you'd like to read it, just click the link below... possibilityforjoy.proboards.com/thread/71/ot-javarian-fashion-advice

I'm sorry to read about Java's passing. Not knowing him personally, I enjoyed reading his perspective on things. His doctor made a video about his condition and treatment that was very interesting. One of my favorite things Java shared with us was a little diagram called "How to un'bleep' your closet." It's entertaining and has useful advice at the same time. Condolences to his family and friends. He'll be missed around here.

Just a thought, how about putting some of the videos that Java posted in one place? B

I was shocked when I read this. Not being able to get on much I never saw this thread before and I am just feeling so bad. I had so many enjoyable 'conversations' with him here and on the old 12th forum. Rest in Peace my friend.
