Wow, I wish I could have been in on that discussion!. We've been loyal fans for many years. It's not nearly as good now as it used to be. Some of the stories are just dreary. Things were a lot more fun when Tony was there. They either need a better showrunner or writers or both.
I liked Kate, but Ziva was a great replacement. I never really wanted Tony and Ziva to become a full-blown couple. I just wanted them to be coworkers with benefits. I didn't like the end where Ziva had a child and Tony had to leave to keep her safe. I was hoping he would be given his own team at some other location, leaving the door open for him to show up at a later date for an episode here or there.
I didn't like Emily when she came on board but fortunately they made her less weird and she fits in well now, although if they replaced her I probably wouldn't care. I really like Torres but never liked Clayton and didn't know what he was doing there. I didn't like Esposito's character either. Jack is OK but for the department psychologist, she is more screwed up than anyone. She always has some old trauma she needs to deal with. Her character isn't really working for me but I think they could fix it with better stories.
I loved Abby and couldn't imagine not having her on the show, but I love Kasie and don't miss Abby at all. Of course I love Ducky and I'm glad he still pops in from time to time. Jimmy was getting annoying, spending years learning to to be an ME and never seeming overly competent. I'm glad they finally promoted him and made him more confident and competent. Really it wouldn't bother me if they replaced him.
I miss Mike Franks. I always enjoyed him. I miss Gibbs dad too.
I liked that Gibbs and Jenny had a history. That made things interesting. I loved it when he got together with Hollis Mann. Wish she could have stayed around longer. I wanted him to get together with the Coast Guard lady that they worked with 2 or 3 times. She had red hair too! It seemed like they were trying to get him together with the lawyer that had long dark hair. I didn't like her at all. I liked when Jamie Lee Curtis was in the picture though. I think they're right not to put him with someone long term.
It was great when Tony was with Jean Benoit. That whole storyline was great, but it was neat seeing him in a romantic relationship even though he wasn't supposed to really fall for her.
Vance was a really good addition too. I was getting tired of Jenny so I'm glad he came on board.
Robert Wagner was great as Senior in his complicated relationship with Tony.
I like Fornell and the fact that he and Gibbs shared a wife.
McGee was perfect as the computer nerd and a target for Tony. He is less interesting now that he's married with a home life but again I think it's the writers' fault.
You could go on forever with all the people who have had recurring roles on the show.
