I'm curious. How are you all sleeping with all this going on??
For most of my life, I have always been able to function just fine with 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours of sleep. This is probably because of the way I had to work. For the last 7 weeks since all this came about, my sleep has been mostly horrible. I have had nights when I get only 2-3 hours to only a few nights of more than 6 hours. I try very hard to be accepting of all that is going on and relax but obviously I am not doing too well. How are you all doing?

I rarely sleep thru the night. I get 2 to 4 hrs at a time. I usually get up and surf FB and emails for 20 to 30 min then back to bed for another 2 to 3 hrs.

Honestly, I don't think my sleep pattern has changed. I generally am up once each night and back to sleep immediately. I have never had a problem sleeping. When ever anything happens, I awaken quickly and can go back to sleep when its over. I believe that I am fortunate with this.

I've been up but that's because of back and hip pain. I have arthritis in my hip and herniated discs in my lower back. Unfortunately, walking doesn't help much (which is the only exercise available right now) so I'm missing my eliptical machine at the gym. Last week I was doing some basic yoga stretches I've done hundreds of times before and I don't know what happened but I went from feeling okay to almost constant back and hip pain.
It's starting to get a bit better but it definitely affects my sleep. When the Advil wears off or the ice pack gets warm, I'm usually up.
And then there's my writing. At 4am last night I got an idea for a new article for work so I started writing notes about it. I know that with regular work or with writing stories, if I don't write it out when it comes to me it can disappear later.
A full, straight 8-hours of sleep sounds like something dreams are made of!

Sorry to see this PTVJ. Truly, for an 80 year old guy with replaced knees and twice rebuilt right ankle, I am really pleased with almost everything. When it opens again, I'll go back to city rec center to workout room and ride bike, walk treadmill, do other miscellaneous machines [but, no barbell weight lifting at all] three or four times a week...never on weekends. Some days I swim laps at a leisurely pace for an hour. It is a really great facility with a couple basketball and racquetball courts plus the six lane 50 yard indoor plus eight lane 50 yard outdoor pool too. City charges only $12 a month for members over 65. They are considering no membership fee at all for the few of us who are over 75 years old.

Most of the people we know 70+ have some issue with sleeping.

So sorry to hear, Christine. I remember, in my 30's, having back issues and struggling to find a comfortable sleeping position. LOL, my "favorite" position was laying on the floor, legs bent, with lower legs from knees down resting on the couch. It was the only way to get any sleep. As you are finding, it is no fun.
