I've been losing track of the days! On Saturday, my daughter looked at me and asked, "What day is it because I have no idea?" Last week was Spring Break so we really lost track of time. But my daughter goes back to online school tomorrow. Having to get up to login is going to be brutal because we become night owls when we don't HAVE to be up in the morning. Thankfully we never have to get out of our pajamas! Today was my Mom's 75th birthday. As she and my step-father are across the country we had to do a party via video chat. My family and my sister and her family were on to see Mom open her presents and blow out the candles on her cupcakes that she made herself. Still, it turned out to be a nice day. So how is your week going?

We went grocery shopping at early senior hours today. It's been 2 weeks since we last shopped. The store was well stocked and we got everything we needed and wanted. Still no sanitizer or wipes in our stores though. Must all be going where most needed which is the right thing to do. We had a nice Easter. We made a very nice dinner and talked with family. Our SIL made us a beautiful video of family, pictures, music and special times we have had with them. It was tremendously touching for us. Went on a birding ride a few days ago but not a lot going on yet. Have a healthy and good week everyone

Our Easter was memorable, not only for the isolation, but we also got 8 inches of snow! Then, to add insult to injury, we got another inch yesterday. Good grief! Unfortunately, it's also staying very cold so we'll be looking at a white landscape again for a few more days. This, too, shall pass! I love playing American MahJongg and usually have long playdates with some friends every couple of weeks. Typically, you play with 4 people but it can also be done easily with 3. My husband has also learned to play. One of my friends discovered a version called Siamese MahJongg that's for just 2 players so my husband and I tried it and have really enjoyed it. We've played 7 games so far and are happy to add it to the list of distractions we're reaching for. Otherwise, I'm still busy sewing quilt tops and enjoying my Hallmark movies.

Yesterday I decided to get busy on my sewing project. I am going to make some "cozy" bowls for the microwave for family and camping friends for a Christmas gift this year. Well, I remember now why I hate to sew...my machine bobbin kept getting jammed up. I even took the whole mechanism apart to try and see where the problem was. It still just jams up so I was ready to take it in to be repaired. I found what looked like a great store close by that also had elastic (I ran out making face masks last week) but when I called I found out that they have closed for now. BOOO!! I would think that would be an essential business with what is going on at this time right? So instead I mixed up the next 2 months of cat dry food. I usually mix 3 different dry food bags together and make my own mix for them. My thought is I don't want them to get picky on what they eat. I give them one of 4 different brands of wet food also. So far it has worked. they eat all of the food. I'm still working on my taxes since we don't have to have them in now until July 15th One good thing. I also have found a new tax person for next year. I need to understand my finances better and hopefully she will help me. Spring is here in Arizona. My roses are in full bloom along with all of the citrus trees and many other things. I just sit and blow my nose every time I venture outside to pull weeds and pick lemons. I wish I could give all of you some of those. I really hate throwing them away.

We had a nice but quiet Easter. Watched church service on laptop. Poor minister was almost alone in church except for video crew, organist, and lady who sang. One son and his wife plus their kids live in our same town. However, Tara is a nurse practitioner and spent last week seeing with patients in hospital. She tries to isolate herself from her family...been completely successful so far. Since Dawn and I are old [plus I've had pneumonia twice] they delivered Easter to us and picked up things we had for them at our front door. I was the true beneficiary since they brought me a rhubarb-strawberry pie! Dawn is not a pie eater...usually. However this pie is amazing. Dawn just received shipment of the four roses she wanted from David Austin Roses [for a change, I remembered the right ones]. This morning, we planted them where she had selected. She really knows plants and flowers; so, our home and yard look super. I can dig holes like an animal as long as the exact spot is identified. Hey, everyone needs to know their role and play it properly! We are staying warm and safe. All of you need to do the same - please.

larryholmes, I don't know where you find this stuff. It's always so entertaining! Dogs are too smart. Our one daughter has 2 beagles and she can't say the word 'park' without them howling and crying, and instead says the 'p' word when telling anyone where she's going.

So nice to hear everyone's updates and another thank you larryholmes for your humor!! Phew! made it through another week in good health....sometimes I have to fight off the gloom of feeling like a furtive target, but hopefully soon things will settle out a bit more in the world. I think they originally forecast the peak for Massachusetts for this week but it doesn't sound to me like it's happening yet. nathanfan1, we ended up with some of your snow....thankfully not as much! It's been quite chilly and windy for the past week, had about 2 inches of snow earlier in the week and another 3-4 yesterday, but at least it's pretty much gone. Would love to get to some gardening in but it's freezing at night, so transplanting doesn't seem like a good option yet. My pansies are still sitting on the porch table to keep them safe. My dear friends in California sent me a care package full of little gifts and Meyer lemons!!!!!, including a mask that one of them had sewn. I was so happy not to have to do that!!!! The only thing I wanted to add was a metal piece of some sort so I could fit the nose part closer to my face....thank goodness for the Internet! I had tried florist wire but that wasn't working real well, paper clips were too stiff, some people were actually cutting up aluminum cans into strips and folding them but I really didn't want to do that. So one site mentioned the metal spine of ACCO binders!!!!!! For any of us oldies who did office work, this was PERFECT and I actually had a few in my supply closet. I clipped off the soft metal part and hand sewed a pocket to insert into the mask and now it fits close!!!! That's probably waaaaaay too much information! Stay well everyone!!!

My husband had his first doctor appt over the internet. The doc had him get his face close to the camera so she could see his eyes then had him open his mouth. Asked him some questions and that was it. After he hung up I asked him if that was going to cost the normal amount. He didn't know. I've been wearing a mask to the store for a couple of weeks and most people are doing the same. Now that they are talking about opening things up again, I noticed a lot fewer people wearing masks yesterday. I've seen several states have had large protests against the stay at home orders and now I see some beaches are open in Florida and of course some churches had large Easter church services, so I don't think this virus will go away any time soon.

I've been watching those protests and openings on the news and they worry the heck out of me. I'm in a small state (NJ) with 85,000 cases and 4,200 deaths. They say the percentage of deaths to cases is only supposed to be 2% to 3% but in our state it's about 5% and in my county it's now 7%. Here it is mandatory to wear a mask in public. They won't let you into a store without one. Maybe I'm paranoid but I fear the more they open things too early, the more likely this pandemic will have serious effects for months to come.

The death rate likely isn't that bad. Enough people aren't getting tested. There may be another 25,000 that were infected that either had no symptoms or had mild symptoms but never got tested. I can understand you being apprehensive. Even 2 or 3% works out to be a lot of people. Stay home as much as you can and stay safe.

I live on Long island the infected rate is very high we have over 34,000 in the county here I live, I still go to work but only 2 times a week do my shopping early in the day work in my garden and do my walking, the hard days are when it is rainy and dark outside. There is just so much TV and reading you can do, but need to stay positive.
