It feels like the days are starting to blur together and I thought I'd be able to get a lot more work done, even with my daughter home but it just doesn't seem to be happening.
I'm currently binge watching my screeners for a new Apple TV+ show called "Home Before Dark" and it's really good. It's both a mystery and family friendly. I'll be reviewing it for TV Fanatic and the first three episodes will be available to Apple TV subscribers this Friday. (I'll put a separate thread up about the show soon.)
My husband was off today so we took our weekly drive. That's our big outing these days. We didn't actually stop anywhere other than to get takeout for dinner, which they brought out to our car. At least there's no rush hour traffic!
In COVID-19 news, we've got over 16,000 cases and about 200 deaths in NJ, with 331 cases in my county (11 deaths) and 4 cases in my town. I'm really happy our schools are closed (officially through April 24th). The larger town that we share a school system with has 48 cases and 4 fatalities.
Hope you are all staying safe and well.

AZ Governor Ducey issued a stay at home order starting at 5:00 pm tomorrow. There are more than 1,000 cases and 20 known deaths. All schools are closed for the rest of the year. The Superior Court notified me that I've been released from jury service and won't be called for at least 18 months. I was supposed to report this Thursday morning.
My husband and I went to Costco this afternoon. There is a waiting line to get into the store. Only 50 people are allowed in at one time. Luckily it moved quickly. We were fortunate to find a large package of Charmin that we can share with our kids. People's carts were overflowing. We didn't go crazy and bought some bread, cereal, dried fruit, and a box of shock for the pool. There is still plenty of meat in our freezer. I hope everyone here is safe and able to find needed items at the store.

I am staying home most of the time. I ventured out today to the bread store. I got a loaf, still warm, and 2 big cinnamon rolls for a treat. She said I had points or something for a free item so I got a 2nd loaf of bread and took it to some friends. We met at their door to hand it off. Her husband had a liver transplant a year ago so they are staying home.I started wearing one glove for opening doors and touching things. I washed all of my cloth grocery bags yesterday. I now use them once and then they go in the wash. I did stop at my local Bashas on the way home and got some chicken breasts & buttermilk for my muffins. I might make another Irish soda bread with the buttermilk. I am planning a meet up with my camping group on Friday. We usually meet up for coffee and donuts at Dunkin Donut. Instead we are going to bring a sack lunch, or get fast food and park in the big lot behind the Dunkin Donut and sit in our camp chairs behind our cars to keep the distance. It will be nice to see real people instead of video chats. We still don’t have test kits here in AZ so we don’t have any idea how many people have this virus. All of the states around us are closed down. Most of the mayors have shut down their cities but our Governor doesn’t want to shut down anything...

We went for a drive yesterday out to a nature area 45 minutes away. The ducks are just starting to pass through and we saw some Tundra Swans which was awesome! We only have 7 cases of Corona in our county thus far but know that will change. Our stores are still very well stocked. Just TP and sanitizer are in short supply. We also could not find a new thermometer which we need. Will go for groceries and stock up even more while stores are still stocked. We realize it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. MANY people are staying home in our area which is a good thing. Please stay safe everyone!

I, too, am finding it hard to keep my days straight. The monotony has definitely set in but we have nothing to complain about. So many areas are suffering significantly. I'll just keep hanging with the cows and horses and look forward to a better time.

Most of the mayors have shut down their cities but our Governor doesn’t want to shut down anything..." From the Arizonza Republic: "According to the governor, essential services include:
Health care and public health operations. Services for elderly people, those with developmental disabilities, foster and adoption children and individuals experiencing homelessness. Infrastructure operation, such as food production, utility operators, construction and internet providers. First responders and other emergency personnel. Grocery stores and pharmacies. Veterinary care. Outdoor recreation. Charities and social service organizations, including nonprofits and food banks. Media organizations. Gas stations and other transportation-related businesses. Banks and credit unions. Hardware and supply stores. "Critical trades," such as plumbers, electricians, cleaning, sanitation and security. Shipping and mail services. Educational institutions. Laundry services. Restaurants, for takeout and delivery. Suppliers for essential businesses. Distributors that enable telework. Airlines, taxis and ride-sharing services. Residential facilities and shelters. Legal, real estate and accounting services. Day-care centers for employees of essential businesses. Manufacturers and distributors of "critical products." Hotels. Funeral services."
Anyone can see that our stay at home order has no teeth to it. There are a lot of things that our Governor thinks we should still be able to do. Our Phoenix mayor is livid that so many things are still open for business, including golf courses and hair and nail salons.

We have 18 cases in our county and zero deaths. I knew grocery stores and pharmacies would be open but it seems like an enormous amount of things are deemed critical. I understand restaurants being open for carry out. For a while you could hardly get any groceries although that is getting much better. I know clothing stores are closed and hair stylists and nail salons. My tax acct closed and of course I didn't get my taxes there before they closed. Some golf courses are open but they are taking precautions to keep people apart and the clubhouses are closed. I'll probably go golfing soon. My husband is working at home now but so many businesses are closed, he's worried his projects will soon end and he'll be furloughed.
Like Tycho, I plan to meet some friends at the high school parking lot on Thursday. We can sit in lawn chairs 6 feet apart but actually get to see each other and talk.

Yeah my big idea of the meet up in the parking lot is now on hold as the Governor did give us a stay at home order finally. I guess we could all go play golf together as the golf courses are open?? I saw a wonderful interview of Bill Gates on You Tube from CNN a few days ago. His foundation has been dealing with health issues for many years now. He gave a warning back in 2015 at one of his TED talks that the US was not prepared for this kind of health crisis but we could get prepared.

I know some people aren’t taking this seriously, especially in other areas of the country where it hasn’t taken hold yet. But we had our first case in our county on March 12 and now we have 446. Our state had 2,800 cases on 3/23 and now we have over 22,000 so it does spread quickly once it gets started.
They had to put temporary fencing around the playgrounds in our town. They had tape around them but teenagers kept ripping it down.
I have a friend who is a nurse. She has three kids. When she comes home she strips down in her entryway, puts her clothes in plastic bags to wash, immediately takes a shower and heads to her bedroom. She’s keeping a constant distance from her own kids because she’s worried about transmitting it to them.
I’m a bit worried for my husband as the town in which he works now has about 100 cases. But we can only do the best we can.
Right now, I’m just trying to concentrate on my work and keeping things as normal as possible. They’re theorizing that we’ll get through the worst of it in April and then things will begin to get better. Fingers crossed!

Things seem to going well here. Spring yard clean-up must be almost completed. I notice that Dawn dug a big hole...six feet long, three feet wide, and four feet deep.
- I asked, "What are we planting here?"
- Dawn replied, "How do you like the view from here?"
After being married 53 years, maybe...occasionally...I still miss something about the joys of working on things together.
Stay safe and pray for each other.

I live on Long Island and I believe we are well over 8000 for our county it very scary for anyone living here. We are on the boarder of NYC so we are in thick of things keeping fingers crossed I didn't know you were on Long Island! Yes, you are in the epicenter. Even my tiny, little town in NJ has 10 cases now, 515 in our county and over 25,000 in the state. My step-father's family lives in Brooklyn. His older uncle is currently on a ventilator. His cousin had the virus and was horribly sick for two weeks. She was sent home but said her fever was so high she was hallucinating and it was scary. My neighbor is a nurse and she just moved out of her house and into a friend's RV because she doesn't want to risk exposing her husband and three kids. She's dealing with patients every day and her house is too small to properly quarantine herself. Her kids are 7, 10, and 12. They live half a block away and I feel horrible that I can't go over and help in any way. Video chatting is the best we can do and I guess we should be grateful for that. If this were the 1980s or 1990s the most we would have had was a telephone!

I had my meet up with my girlfriends today in the high school parking lot. It was great! We stayed apart. The temp was about 60 and sunny so it was very pleasant. We talked and talked and talked as you might imagine. 3 1/2 hours later we dispersed. When I got home I discovered my face, neck, and forearms were quite burned. I never think about sunscreen early in the year. I tan pretty easy so I imagine the red will be faded away tomorrow.
Tycho, I really think you could do your get-together. Our governor stated we should only do essential errands but he also emphasized we should get outside just make sure we maintain social distancing.
