I'm guessing we are all under some sort of quarantine whether it is official or not. So how is everyone doing out there?
My daughter is into her second week of online schooling. The school part seems to be going well but she makes it easy. She gets up every morning, logs onto her 4th grade classroom, talks to her teachers and gets her work done with very little guidance needed from me. I'm sure a lot of parents don't have it that easy right now. However, she does say she can't wait to go back to school to see everyone. I don't have the heart to tell her that that might not happen.
My husband has to go to his office because they are considered "essential workers." They were even given official paperwork. It doesn't sound like the office is doing very much to disinfect which worries me but he says most people make the effort to keep a general distance from one another and they use their own computers and phones.
But tonight, we're catching up on the new version of Magnum P.I. If you haven't watched it, it's actually a fun, action adventure with good characters and beautiful scenery.
Are you watching anything good?

I have Disney+ so I thought I would start a Star Wars viewing. I have been doing one episode, movie a day. I remember now how I really didn't like the "new" episode I, II, and III when they came out. I did catch a few things that I missed on the first viewing. Now I get to the best episodes 4,5, & 6. I'm really missing my camping trips. I'm getting lots cleaned out and gone thru. I did my pantry today. The Elks Lodge is asking for coffee to send to our troops. I did find some bags of coffee that I have that I really won't use. I will drive them over tomorrow. They said to just throw them over the wall and someone would be collecting them from there so we won't have any contact. I will get a list ready for Wednesday and hit the stores early during their senior hours. I really don't need much but I might check it out just to escape for awhile.

Hi there. We are on quarantine here in Portugal too. Apart from those considered "essential workers", most people are working from home. Both me and my husband are working home. My son is also having school online (mainly some worksheets that the teachers send). Since this weekend, we are supposedly not allowed to leave home, except to go shopping, to the pharmacy, to do some exercise (not in group) or to take a dog out. But, somehow, we can still see in TV some very filled places in the city. These are really some weird times. I hope this will end soon. Take care and stay healthy!

Here the story is that Dawn and I have been doing yard clean-up for Spring. I keep hoping that some age restriction or something will be announced. Unfortunately, the work may be completed before any limitation is imposed. Things really are looking very nice; so, Dawn's plan was correct as usual. I found some amazing free materials on Cornell University 'bird studies' web site [just google that]. Much of it is fully understood and eagerly reviewed by the grandkids ages 8, 11, 12, 13, and 14 3/4 [going on 16-17, in her opinion]. Their parents enjoy it too because the kids are spending several hours reading and then discussing with brothers and sisters. Both sets of parents are pleased their kids are learning so much general knowledge plus science and then eagerly discussing and having 'show and tell' when questions are raised. Both families are either confirming or uncovering real interest for science plus focused reading. The families have begun having almost daily internet sessions talking about things they are learning plus comparing impacts of current situation on life in Winchester, VA, and Woodbury, MN. It is really pleasing to see kids finding meaningful aspects to this. Additionally, one son is a doctor and one daughter-in-law in a nurse practitioner; thus, each day also includes some knowledgeable medical discussions. They even 'bring in' the lawyer son and the French language major/marathon runner daughter-in-law for 'what is it like...' discussions of careers. We certainly did not need or want this pandemic; nevertheless, there are some meaningful things occurring.

Wow! Larryholmes, I was shocked to see Woodbury, MN in your post. Even though I'm in WI, I'm only about 20 minutes from Woodbury. We do lots of shopping over there in normal times and I have a couple of good friends who live in Woodbury. Small world!

My one camping group usually meets up ,when we are not camping, on Friday for coffee and donuts at Dunkin’ Donuts. Since that is not possible at this time we are going to try to do a video chat thru Facebook messenger this Friday. I will let you know how it goes.

We were up at 4:30 this AM to go to senior hours at the local stores. We are all stocked up and can stay in for a couple of weeks til we need a few perishables. We are playing well together and enjoying things we like to do. We plan on going on a "car picnic" to a nature center a hour away the next nice day. The Tundra Swans are passing through on their way north. It is always a fun thing to see.

He makes a weekly trip to their remote office just across the border into Wisconsin. Maybe to your town! It really is a small world...but, the 'Castle World' is a powerful bunch!

Our new internet and TV services are up and running. The TV part takes a little getting used to. We've had cable for years and are used to putting in the channel number in order to watch. Now we go through the list of networks to find what we want to watch.
Our grocery stores have plenty of produce and deli meats and cheeses. The paper aisle is still bare and the canned goods aisle is spotty. The soup section is nonexistent. Meat is hit or miss, but the meat cutters will grind beef to order. Luckily we have an extra freezer that was pretty well stocked before the shortages began. I hope everyone is able to find needed supplies in your own area.

Monday was the blood drive where I usually every two to three months. I signed up on line for my time slot a few weeks ago. As of last week they were sending me desperate pleas via email to make sure I come because there's a such a blood shortage right now. Even told about their special precautions due to COVID-19. Just to make sure, I tried to call the hotline on Monday morning but there was a 30 minute wait to speak with a person.
My car has been giving me problems and since my husband was home on Monday, he drove me over. He and my daughter were going to wait in the car. My daughter has been home bound since last Monday and this felt like an outing! Unfortunately, we get there and the place is closed. They send me emails and texts all the time, you'd think they could send one saying that they were canceling all appointments and closing down. Sigh.
Instead, we got some takeout and went home.
Yesterday and today have been rainy and I'm feeling very unmotivated to head to the grocery store but I'll have to go by the end of the week.
We have three cases now in my small town and up to 30 cases in the town where my husband works so things have gotten more serious here. These are definitely interesting times...

My family member who I thought likely had coronavirus (she had pneumonia) is getting better. She finally got a test last week and this week they said the results were negative. Not sure if that is good or bad. If she had the virus and was getting better she would now at least have immunity. I scored hamburger at the store yesterday on one of my gathering and foraging trips. I was so excited and only had to go to 2 stores! My husband said they may allow him to work from home. They don't normally allow that but he is immuno-compromised and shouldn't be exposed to so many at work. While I want that for him, it would definitely cramp my style to have him underfoot at home. So mixed emotions.

When my husband retired, I initially felt the same way about him being underfoot all day and cramping my style. The first month was a real adjustment for both of us. Once he got over the 'what am I going to do' thinking, he fell into an extended vacation mode He was happier and started doing some things he'd put off due to working. The good news for you is that he'll be working and will probably be in another room in your house with the door closed to avoid distractions. Hopefully this will be just a temporary situation.

A friend of mine who lives in the next town over just told me her ex-husband (father of her two sons) has been in the ICU for the last three days and is now on a ventilator. He's in his early 50s and, to my knowledge, was in otherwise good health before contracting the virus. Not that I haven't been taking this seriously but this certainly hit home.

I worked from home for 17 years sitting at the breakfast bar. I could have set up an office in the basement, but being in the kitchen was just extremely handy. I'm retired now and my husband intends to sit at the breakfast bar as well which is open to the family room where I spend most of my time. He has no desire to be off in a separate room either. Maybe I'll hang out in the bedroom more. Hopefully he'll eventually go back to work.

Things are still stable and going well at our house. I'm ever so thankful that we have a huge chest freezer in the garage and that we raise our own beef. In addition, we have a large garden every year and I freeze a lot of vegetables so chasing after food is not a serious issue for us. The first 2 calves of the year were born yesterday and, thankfully, the weather is a bit warmer than average with sunshine today. Hopefully, they'll both get a good start before we get cold and crummy weather but there are still about 45 more calves to come so it'll be an issue for a couple of months.
We have 3 confirmed cases in our county and they're in other towns. I've never been so thankful that I live in the country!
