I just realized I didn't even post this thread last week and I'm not even sure where last week went. I had two big projects for work, my daughter's STEAM fair (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), a women's basketball game at Princeton University (that was the fun portion of the week), and then spent the weekend getting my daughter's family tree/immigration project done for school that was due today.
Today, I'm doing research on doctors. My daughter needs to go back to a specialist she was seeing but that doctor is no longer in our insurance network and our insurance dropped all out-of-network coverage this year. The specialists that are in-network are about an hour away and I'm not thrilled with the research and reviews I'm reading on them or the hospitals they're affiliated with. Hopefully I can figure something out soon.
I'm hoping this week ends better than it's beginning. The upside is that the weather is holding. It's relatively warm for February, one of the few upsides to global warming as I hate the cold!
How are things going for all of you?

Cleaning out clothes in the closet. Spring cleaning is underway. Yesterday I cleaned out the plastic storage area of my cubboard and got rid of lots😎 when we get a day of all rain, that is not normal for here, people here kind of freak out and either stay inside or go to the MIM. Spring training was cancelled for rain that day also.

This week is super. Dawn and I have our 53d anniversary today! She has been so very patient for such a long time. So, I am trying to avoid any terrible mistakes. No guessing what trouble I might get into if I were to be left alone.

I have been cleaning out cupboards and discovered my hot coffee mug that looks just like the one that Castle and Beckett are carryingin the picture on the side of our board.

This week will be filled with new experiences. Our cell phone provider (Virgin Mobile) is ending and we're being transferred to Boost Mobile tomorrow. Nothing is supposed to change except who gets the money. We'll see. Then on Thursday we're dropping the cable company and getting new internet service. I bought a Roku stick today so we can get TV service (we don't have a smart TV, hence the stick). By doing all of this, we're cutting our TV/internet bill in half! Hoping it all works out.

Just found out we were the big losers at the month long trivia contest at the local bar. We were 3 moms (the Mom Squad) up against teams with 6 to 8 members and most were much younger. One team had our kids on it. We had a lot of fun and did I mention the losers win a pretty decent prize?
The sound round killed us every time. You had to identify the title and artist and they weren't songs from my era.

Ibnjas, what was the prize? Too bad a couple of the kids weren't able to stay on your team and make it a closer match, LOL.

Is there any way your primary care doctor or the specialist could intervene on your behalf and tell the insurance people why your daughter needs to see that particular specialist? That might be worth a try. That happened to me once and an out of network doctor became in network. Maybe I was just lucky, but the same thing could also happen in your situation. Good luck.

There was so much noise we had trouble hearing but we think we are getting 2 pitchers of beer and a pie from a really good pie company in town. Not bad for losing. Actually the kids did help us some but we still lost big time. I bet the kids will help with the prizes!

Unfortunately, no. As long as there is a doctor in-network with the same specialty within a 50 mile radius then we either go to them or we pay for the out-of-network specialist all out of pocket. This doctor was out-of-network before but at least they paid 60%. As of 2020 they no longer give us that option. We have a high deductible so we'd have to pay a few thousand anyway, the difference is that now, none of it would go towards that deductible. The good news is that there is one more treatment we can do at home and if it works perhaps we can avoid going to another specialist and running a lot more tests. Fingers crossed!
