I got a new computer!!! I'd been using a ten year old MacBook Pro, which was a great computer, but the keypad was starting to go. The S, N, D, and A keys were all rather unpredictable which was a big challenge for someone who writes as much as I do. My husband got a great close-out deal on a MacBook Air before the holidays but we've had so much going on that he wasn't able to transfer everything over and set it up for me until this weekend. Then yesterday, it was 60 degrees and sunny! We were all running around without jackets on and it was awesome. Even now, it's still 55 degrees but a bit cloudier. I know it won't last but I'll take it as long as I can get it. So my week has started out pretty good so far. How about yours?

Congrats on the new computer! I'm sure it'll make a lot of things easier and faster. Well deserved!
I had my quilting buddies over today for some show and tell and an afternoon of playing MahJongg and snacking. Fun time!

I'm going to get some Mahjong lessons later this week. Is it fun?

I've learned that there are definitely different types of MahJongg and different levels of play too. My group plays American MahJongg and we are not letter of the law players. There are a few of the picky procedures that we ignore and it makes playing a lot more fun. The biggest key to my enjoyment is the friends I play with and the fun we have spending time together. I had a chance to play Asian MahJongg this past fall at the Castle gathering and it was definitely different. I actually thought it was easier to play. There's also an online version I'm told and that's different from the other two. I've never tried it.

I'd love to see some pictures of any new quilts you've been working on.

We started with the Charleston which I totally don't understand why we do that. We all had crib sheets to work from. It seemed almost impossible to win. Since it's 2020, we all have to get new crib sheets shortly. After playing 4 rounds someone finally was able to go out. It's crazy! We're going to have another practice session then we'll decide if we want to join one of the groups around town. One of my friends played 40 years ago in the Philippines and she said it was played more like gin rummy and they didn't need crib sheets. Tomorrow I'm going to learn pickle ball. What else can I try this year? Looking for suggestions.

IBM, trust me that MahJongg gets much easier the more you play. The Charleston is just a series of passes - 2 left, 2 right and 2 across - although the order makes it seem more complicated. The cards with the patterns on them get more familiar too. You use the same card for a whole year so it gets easier. When I learned, I picked a couple of easy categories and patterns and pretty much stuck to them until I had a better sense of all the combinations and rules.
I also agree that the Asian version is a lot like rummy. As I said, I found it easier but they do like to play a lot faster. I hope you'll stick with it a bit longer and give yourself a chance to become more familiar with everything.
I appreciate the interest in my quilts but right now they're at my quilters' waiting to be machine quilted. Maybe when I get them back and get the bindings done, I can post some pictures if someone can coach me through the process!

I just walked up and asked a lady with a racket if someone could show me how to play. She was just heading to play a round robin with some people. She said to come back in 2 hrs and she would show me. I asked the right person as she teaches pickle ball and was very knowledgeable. As a former tennis player , I played in HS and College, I thought it would be something I could do with my bad back. I loved it and felt like I did well. I am going to try playing down the street at the Multigenerational center as they have it on their schedule daily every afternoon. another thing to try...Rock Painting. Fun and easy

I loved pickle ball! I don't know when I will get the chance to do it again, but I hope it is soon. I'm going to do archery again (it's been 40 years) once I get my bow restrung. My grandson is getting into it and needs a shooting buddy. I don't know about rock painting but I've been to Painting with a Twist (instructor led class in which you paint while drinking ) and would like to try painting at home. I just haven't got into it yet. I feel like I'm in my second childhood and want to try everything!

Last night my daughter had her Sweetheart Dance for 3rd and 4th graders (kids must have a parent/adult escort). It was fun to see the kids all dressed up. The music was loud but the kids had a great time. It takes place in the gym where they also had two photo booths, disco lights, and a giant video screen. During the last half an hour them moved us all to the cafeteria where there was an ice cream bar set up. Since this is my daughter's last year at this school (it only goes to 4th grade) I took a LOT of pictures. Hope you all had an equally fun Friday night.

I am camping this week and I only have 1 bar of wifi. There is a McDonald’s about a mile down the road with good wifi. Looks like I will have to drive over daily to check emails etc.
