Happy New Year!
Although I've been to Times Square a couple of times on New Year's Eve and it is amazing, my family and I are happily spending a quiet New Year's Eve at home eating take-out Chinese and watching the ball drop on TV.
I hope you all find joy ringing in 2020!

I never had any desire to be in Times Square on NYE. I'm enjoying watching the festivities on TV although they are bleeping out a lot of Post Malone's performance!

ibmjas Part of what is amazing about NYE in NYC is how the NYPD keeps control of over a million people who flood Times Square. What looks like a giant, chaotic crowd on TV is actually pretty well organized into different sections. Once you are in a section you aren't really allowed to leave it. Don't even try to bring alcohol to this party because NYPD will take your bottle and they have specific areas where they dispose of it. You'd think a crowd that large would be scary, and I'm sure there are issues I'm unaware of, but I found it to be a fun crowd and remarkably well controlled. The other amazing part is how it all ends. The ball drops, the fireworks go off, Frank Sinatra is heard singing New York, New York and then 15 minutes later everyone is gone. NYPD moves everyone along incredibly quickly so that the sanitation department can move in and start cleaning up. I know it's not for everyone but it really is an incredible event to be a part of.

I'm sure security is even tighter now. I really do want to get to NYC to see it decorated for Christmas sometime. I'm getting too many bucket list items!

As for Post Malone, every time I see him I'm hit with the desire to take a wash cloth and soap and try to scrub his face, as though I can somehow get those tattoos to wash off!

You know I really like Post Malone. He's very talented and seems sweet but I'm always thinking how disappointed his mother must be that he has tattoos all over his face. Shows how old I am. I keep thinking about how that will ruin all their family pictures!

Well, New Year's Day was spent with huge bowls of popcorn while we watched the sixth Harry Potter movie (one of my favorites of the series) and then finishing off our Chinese food while checking out the HGTV Dream House and dreaming of moving to Hilton Head, SC. I hope all of your New Years began equally as pleasant.

I am camping with a new group over New Years this year instead of my usual party at my neighbors house. The one good thing about being in the west is that we can go to bed early. We watch the ball drop in New York City and then we can go to bed🥳😍
Yeah I have no desire to go to Time Square for New Years. We were inNYC for the bicentennial to watch the tall ships sail in during the day and the big fireworks show that night. Kind of cured me for EVER being in big crowds ever again. They had us so packed that if you would have fainted you would never hit the ground. Standing for 4+ hrs in one place was very hard. We had our 2 kids and a mother in law who needed to be in a wheelchair. I found her the end of a bench or she would have passed out.
