I don't even know where last week went but it flew by!
For those of us in the US, Thursday is Thanksgiving. What are you plans, if you have them?

Well, for me this weekend felt kind of odd. I'm a Nascar fan and most Sunday afternoons are spent with the race on the TV while I do my work on the computer. Now that the Nascar season has ended, I found I got a lot less work done on Sunday. Thankfully, it's a short week with the holiday which should help me catch up. There was also no new episode of The Rookie. Instead, my family spent Sunday evening watching the third movie in the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. My daughter and I have read all the books and seen all the movies but this is a chance for my husband to catch up, and Kate and I certainly don't mind rewatching them! Today was a nothing special Monday but we bought ourselves an ice cream cake. We have a small ice cream shoppe here in town and they close for the season the day before Thanksgiving and don't reopen until March as the owners head to Florida for the winter. They have great cakes so, on a whim, we decided we'd buy one since we know we won't have more until Spring. Hope you are all having a wonderful week so far!

Today is "Turkey Tuesday ". St Vincent DePaul collects turkeys at a local grocery store chain and gives out food boxes to families. Our chapter is giving out 85 boxes of food for Thanksgiving this year. Each box had a Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, fresh celery, carrots, & onion. Canned vegetables, something for dessert.

My mental calendar somehow glommed on to Nov. 22nd as Thanksgiving....I put the frozen turkey breast in the fridge to thaw on Monday, the 19th, and then Tuesday morning my neighbor straightened me out about the "real" Thanksgiving date!!!! So I decided to cook the turkey breast, etc. last Wednesday. My son and I decided we'd have a Thanksgiving fiesta this time around....we'll be having margaritas and Mexican food. I plan on getting my Christmas tree this weekend; this year I will be putting it on my new deck/screened porch -- I'll be able to see it from my favorite reading chair. And now that I have the screened porch the darn squirrels won't be able to chew the Christmas light bulbs AND wiring, which they have done in past years when I put a tree on the deck!!!!!

Fjordmom, you won't be the only ones doing a Mexican Thanksgiving. For over ten years, my family and I have gone to our favorite Mexican restaurant for Thanksgiving. It's delicious, fun, and stress free!

Turkey is one of my favorite meats, especially right out of the oven. Our best family gatherings were at Thanksgiving. Now it will be just me and my kitties. I made a special plate for them last year and let them sit at the table with me😻💕 as they are my only family close by.

Dawn has made a 'boat load' of sausage stuffing. Actually, that stuffing plus roasted brussels sprouts and I am ready to go! Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh, forgot to mention parsnips too!
29NOV2019 update: It was all superb...even had green bean casserole!

My house is small so I'm serving Thanksgiving dinner twice tomorrow! One group is coming to eat at 12:30 and the other at 5:30. That's going to keep me hopping all day long for sure. I think what I'll be most thankful for is a quiet weekend afterwards!

Well, Thanksgiving Day was great. My daughter and I cuddled on the couch and watched the parade with our hot cocoa. Then we went out to dinner with my Dad and my mother-in-law.
The down side...I now have a wicked sore throat. I'm just happy I have the day off.
