Hi All, Someone mentioned that they wished there was a space for members to share things about their lives that had nothing to do with TV so that they could feel more connected to their friends here at PFJ. Well, this is that space. In order to keep it timely I thought I'd try and make a new thread each week on which everyone can post whatever they'd like. I'll start... I hear some areas of the country have had storms and tornadoes but the weather is pretty mild here in NJ. It's been an incredibly busy couple of weeks. Last week we were just outside of St. Louis for a family wedding. Getting there cost money I probably shouldn't have spent and it was hectic but I'm glad we went. I have family scattered across the country that I don't get to see often and it was good to reconnect. This week is my daughter's Monster Mash dance at school. She wants to enter the pumpkin carving contest so we're trying to come up with a good design (and one that I can actually pull off!). And don't forget, tonight It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! is on ABC.

October is our Biannual Cancer testing month. My beloved is a 3 time survivor and I had it once. We both came out fine and now have a 6 month reprieve til April,2020 when we test again. It is always a huge relief when we "pass"
It was our twin grandkid's Birthday this week. They turned 9 and we HAD to celebrate that They have half-day school today and are off tomorrow so we are picking them up for overnight at our place. Going to Abominable this PM. We play games or cards, have their fave foods, and watch movies with them. They haven't outgrown us yet which we are SO very thankful for.

geezer2008, I’m so relieved and happy for both of you and thrilled that you’re able to celebrate with your grandkids birthdays! FYI, we saw Abominable a couple of weeks ago and it’s a fun, sweet movie, so enjoy.

I am tying some salmon fly patterns for family members as Christmas gifts. Fly tying is my hobby; and, my grand kids 'need' to have their selected flies. I match names or interests with classic salmon fly patterns. If pattern research fails, I just 'free style' something I think they might like. So far, past gifts have been well received by their parents - even displayed at their homes and offices.

I've only been fly fishing once. My sister went to college in Montana and she and her boyfriend took me fly fishing when I visited. It was a lot of fun.

My daughter and I finished the Harry Potter series last night. It was a big deal in our house. We've been reading a chapter a night for months. I had never read the series until we read it together and now we are both huge Harry Potter fans.
But now she's asking to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Florida for her 11th birthday next fall. For those who don't know the series, 11 is the age when witches and wizards get their acceptance letter (via owl) to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Now I just have to see if we can budget for it because I want to go as much as she does!

I tied my own trout flies too. Since my ankle rebuild surgeries, I just cannot hike up into the mountains and wander along streams. My buddy and I hiked up into the Gros Vente Wilderrness Area near Pinedale, WY. Caught lots of trout wandering around up in the mountains and over in the Wind River Range. However, the best part of all that was just being there...trout do not live in ugly places!

I read the Harry Potter series with my Grandson. We use to read them on car trips as we drove to National Parks.
Fly tying is truly an art. You should post a few pictures of them🤩
My jaw still hurts from the root canal. I guess front teeth hurt more? At least that’s the story I am getting from the front office. I’m camping again so I will just have to live with the pain for a few more days...🥺

Only once did the pain get worse a couple of days after the procedure instead of better. Turned out there was an infection and I needed antibiotics before it spread. If the pain doesn't go away or gets worse, don't hesitate to call your dentist and ask them to phone in a prescription.

Slowwwwwly and reluctantly getting things done outside before white stuff arrives, although it takes the threat of snow to finally get into "real" action mode . The fall colors were pretty vibrant here in north central Massachusetts, many have fallen so now I get to see the colorful "quilt" on the ground!

As a child, his family stayed at the same guest ranch several times. We honeymooned in Bondurant (June 1977) and fished along the Hoback River (with worms, not flies), and vacationed there with his parents (fishermen all). It's very true that trout don't live in ugly places, lol!
