We never heard about Castle renewals until the end of the season for the network shows. The Rookie only had 20 episodes so they ended early. Castle had up to 24 episodes. As much as I love 24 episodes that is a grewling season for the actors. Most regular shows are finishing up in early May. We should hear soon.
If it wasn’t returning I don’t think we would see the cast still posting about The Rookie. They would be looking for a new gig.

ABC has to do their Upfronts presentation to advertisers on May 14th, so they have to make a decision by then. Historically, ABC has a habit of waiting until the Friday before the upfronts to make their final announcements, so we'll see if they do that again this year.
