According to TVLine, it looks like the rumors about Susan Sullivan leaving were just that, thank goodness. " On the Castle TV show, I was wondering if Espo or Ryan are leaving? –MollyI can confirm that Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever, as well as Susan Sullivan and Molly Quinn, all are on board for Season 8 (along with, you know, Nathan and Stana). Great news! Thanks for sharing. Martha leaving would be a shame. Regarding PJJ, even though I am very sad to see Gates go, I guess that in order to keep the show going and Beckett developing, it was needed. There's no room for two captains unfortunately.

Even if Gates moved up to Chief of D's or Police Commissioner,(which may still happen) if she kept showing up at the 12th on a regular basis, the top brass would think she didn't trust Kate to do her job, which would seriously undermine Kate's authority as Captain. (something Gates would not have put up with if Montgomery were still alive)
No matter how you look at it, if Kate is gonna be made Captain, Gates would have to go. (though I do hope ABC retained the option to have her back occasionally as a guest star)
Though I agree Penny deserved at least an episode or two to make a more dignified exit. |
