Loved your review. I agree with all that you said. I think Nathan might even get en Emmy nod from this episode? I had a feeling we would see Lucy get together this episode based on the review clip they gave us at the start of the episode. John really needed the support. I loved that she took him to see the family that he saved. Their live would have been forever changed if he hadn't intervened. I think Nolan has won over most of the cops in this precinct. He helps eveyone he can and never boasts or gives himself credit for the good police work he does. Just when I thought we were going to get a nice ending we got the rug pulled out from under us with the last 30 seconds. This scene could go so many ways and we have to wait weeks to get the answer. I guess that's better from a season ending cliff hanger where we have to wait the whole summer. I am camping this week with one of my groups. There are many Rookie fans. One guy said it is his favorite show it reminds him or Hill Street Blues. I think this show will continue to gain viewers as the season goes on. There are just so many choices out there today it is hard to get a new show going.

Great review, Christine! I've always thought Nathan does his best work in more dramatic episodes. This one was superb. I thought exactly as you did about Bishop's chances at making detective possibly being derailed by telling Bradford about Isabel wearing the wire. I really was not sure if I was going to like this show based on the early descriptions, but it has really grown on me. I like the whole ensemble and am equally invested in the others' stories as much as Nolan's. Will be interesting to see where they go with things when the show comes back in January.

I agree with what all of you have said! It was a great episode in so many ways.
I loved the opening with Bishop and Nolan getting stuck in the escape room. Bishop was an ace at decoding and they made a great team solving the clues. I absolutely love the complicated character that Talia Bishop is! Knowing how much Nathan loves games in real life, I bet he enjoyed the fun of that scene.
I can't say enough about the whole issue of the killing and the aftermath. I read an interview with Hawley and he said that many police department do indeed follow this same procedure in an officer involved shooting. I had no idea, and, as others have said, Nathan's performance made me feel so much of what he went through. As Tycho said, when Lucy brought him back to the scene and pointed out the happy family that was still in tact, my heart was full. I really wanted Lucy to give him the emotional support, though I realize there will likely be fallout. I also thought that scene when Grey dropped Nolan off and asked why he'd been chosen to be the companion officer, was so moving.
I was surprised that the other Rookie's mother seems to be an issue and I look forward to learning more about that whole situation, as well as what becomes of Isabell. Perhaps her cop instincts will save her.
The ending certainly left a lot of possible scenarios out there but I have a hard time believing we'll lose any of the main characters yet. I guess I look for there to be a big ripple effect from Lucy being there and possibly another shooting. IMO, the show sure deserves a season 2!
