I enjoyed the episode. I loved that John chose to do FaceTime with his son rather than go on a date with random napkin girls. They seem to have a very close relationship. I look forward to his visit to LA.
i was glad that Bradford didn’t take the brick. Maybe if Isabel lives thru her stay in prison she might have a chance to get clean and sober.
I liked seeing Ben again. I think he is good for John. They have been friends for a long time. I wonder if John will go out with the other two Rookies now that he is not with Lucy. He needs to get some release for the day and talking with the other 2 rookies helped.

As we get into the season more, we are starting to enjoy the show a lot more. I would like to see what happens with Isabel. At this point, she is a lost soul and the drugs are the love of her life which makes me feel sorry for Bradford. He remembers better times and he obviously still cares about her.

I watched the episode live this time so I can add my 2 cents! I was surprised too, at the way the ride along unfolded, especially the ending. For the director to do something generous and thoughtful and then get shot for it, was a strange twist. My favorite part was also the ending with John choosing to video chat with his son instead of go out. I like that they seem to have a good relationship and the son was, seemingly, excited to come out to LA after midterms. Knowing what a geek Nathan is in real life, made the chat about meeting the director of their favorite films and the walk down memory lane feel even more real. Nathan has shared many times that he has treasured memories of his dad taking he and his brother to favorite movies. Got to say this again - I REALLY like Talia! She's a great blend of a tough cop and a caring human being. She certainly has it right when she says it's tough to do the job and not let it take away the good parts of life. I'm always looking forward to the next episode and what we'll learn about the characters.
