Did anyone else watch Manifest on NBC? I just watched the pilot today and really enjoyed it. A plane full of people hit mysterious extreme turbulence and when they land, it's five years later and their friends and families believed them all to be dead.
It had me wondering if this premise was somewhat inspired by that Malaysian Airlines flight that was never found.
Not only does it set up quite a mystery for what exactly happened to this plane and why the people on it haven't aged in five years, but also how the lives of the people they left behind have changed and moved on in that time. It reminded me a little of an old cable show called The 4400 but I think I like this even more.
Did anyone else check this out?

I watched this the other day. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. These people have only been gone a few hours but everyone back at home thought they were dead and moved on with their lives. In one case 1 twin is now 5 years older than the other! There is just so much to explore with the relationships and so many questions to answer and other little mysteries crop up along the way.
I'm always leary about watching these kind of mysterious serial shows. Usually I get really involved with the people and the story, then it winds up getting cancelled and I feel like I've wasted a year or 2 with no resolution to anything.

Hi Everyone
PTVJ - thanks for the heads up on this one! Sounds like my kinda show. Haven't seen any ads to suggest that the UK will be getting this though. My immediate thought was Lost - never watched it. And then Les Revenants or The Returned which was about several people returning from the 'dead'. It also involved twin girls. And I'm referring to the French version not the US one.
According to IMDB Manifest has 13 episodes so far...

I don't know if anyone continued watching Manifest but at the end of season 1 we've been left with a bombshell regarding everyone who was on Flight 828. Also more than a few cliffhangers too.
I'm hoping for season 2 because I've become invested in this show. It's a highlight for me to watch the newest episode the following day.
Cal, Olive, Ben, Grace, Michaela, Saanvi and I guess even Jared have definitely grown on me.

This seems interesting. It reminds me of Lost. I hope they make the show last without losing interest.

Awesome news learning about Manifest being renewed for season 2. I get to see more of what's going to happen. Pleased beyond words at the moment.

So far, here it's only available through a new paid channel, so I have to wait. Unless it's so good that it's worth subscribing just for it

So far, here it's only available through a new paid channel, so I have to wait. Unless it's so good that it's worth subscribing just for it I would wait. They did give us a season 2 but this is like the show "Lost". If they don't get to the conclusion it would be very frustrating as they would leave you wondering what happened. I would wait for a couple of season to see how this goes. I'm enjoying it but if I had to pay to view it I would wait. That's just my 2 cents...

It does sound a lot like Lost. I enjoyed that show a lot in the beginning but then after some seasons what I "Lost" was my patience and interest....

Saw the 1st episode and I liked it! It may be possible to watch all the episodes at once rather than wait every Tuesday so I hope to check whether that is possible over the weekend. What I liked was that it focused on one family, briefly another character and a glimpse of the others. It also sounded as if Michaela was telling the story to someone. When you first watch it, it seems like it will be some kind of family drama with the family trying to persuade their daughter to marry her boyfriend, the son and his wife happily married for 15 years. And then you learn that the young male twin has leukaemia (sp). The request to any passengers willing to take a later flight. The son Ben advises his parents and wife that he will stay behind with his sister and the male twin, no big deal. Turbulence on board the flight (who hasn't experienced that!) and then the landing and huh? Suddenly it's not your regular family drama.... B

It would appear that I may be able to "binge" watch but may opt to watch a new episode each Tuesday. The 2nd episode still had my attention and I want to know what happens next. It is still focused on the one family and how they are dealing with the return. I liked that when the brother had one of those headaches, he seemed to know that he needed to act on it and saved the life of the son of one of the passengers. I now wonder if that passenger will be deported. There was also a brief glimpse of another passenger before what appears to be her swift dispatch! Some comments that I have read said the series falters for most of the episodes until you get to episode 10. I just hope that whoever devised the series has an endgame even if the series doesn't get to that point rather than making it up as each season progresses. B

I felt spoilt by 2 of the shows that I am watching, this one and Harrow. I love character more than the story (if that makes sense) the way that they interact with each other. I would say that is why I LOVED Castle back in those first 4 years. There was no back stabbing, trying to outdo each other. It was just people who had each others back, who cared. So for me, Manifest took a sinister turn. I liked that the murder turned out to be a murder but still connected to the fact that she had been a passenger on Flight 828. She was killed because she came back. She was supposed to be dead! I liked that we learnt more about issues that the sister had beyond having to decide if she was going to marry her boyfriend. I felt that the reaction of the parents was understandable. I liked that when the sister had the courage to once again try to apologise it was to discover that the mother was suffering from some form of dementia. Believing that her daughter was still alive and her husband having given up trying to remind her of the truth. I liked that at the end, the sister was able to put a smile on the mother's face simply by being with her. I liked that the twin was able to start to reconnect with his sister despite the now difference in their ages and that initially he thought that she had stolen his best friend as they were now dating. I liked that the husband tried to give his wife an "out" as he realised that she had met someone else during his missing years but she wouldn't take it despite earlier having admitted to someone who knew about the relationship that she felt as if she was cheating with her husband. The sinister was the marker in the blood of the male twin which the doctor also found in her own blood sample. The query was whether that was due to the pills the passengers had been asked to take on their returtn. The doctor wanted to test brain tissue but when she tried to discover where the body had been taken, she could not find it amongst the 48 bodies that were in the morgue. When she put the victim's name into the system, she received an "access denied" message. The fact that the sister (who is a cop) was being queried due to her ability to solve two crimes. Her ex-partner/boyfriend was given a card marked NSA when I thought that the guy was head of the FBI. Suffice to say the ex stuck with the sister and tore up the card. We see the body being moved by "the men in black" to who knows where... B
