We are all in renewal limbo with the cast and crew. What say you Castle fans. Will they or won't they renew for an 8th season???

Hey Arky! I've been all over about this. I started out completely sure of a renewal, then lost some faith and the longer it's gone on, even started to think we were done. However, the recent article / interview with Jon Huertas that Tycho posted has me all positive again. I'm choosing to believe!

I do not get the sense that anyone is looking for a job. Especially the crew. The art director even tweeted that he is going to up his twitter game. Now whether Stana signs is another question. I still feel very confident that she will sign.

I want to say definitely but I've seen too many crazy things happen in TV land to feel that confident. However, I still have faith that season 8 will happen. If Stana re-signs I think it's a lock. I hope we hear something positive about that soon. As for the official announcement from ABC, my guess is that it won't happen until Friday, May 8th. Last year, ABC waited until the Friday evening before its Upfronts to announce. This year the Upfronts are on Tuesday, May 12th...the day after the Castle season finale. I'd be surprised if they make any major announcements before that Friday...and so we wait. (FYI...for those who don't know, the Upfronts are when the networks roll out their fall lineup for advertisers. Each network holds a special event, generally in May for advertisers and press showing off their new shows and highlighting their returning shows. Then the advertisers can order ad space for the new season.)

I think there are enough viewers to justify season 8 unless NOBODY shows up to watch the remaining episodes. If they fall below "The Night Shift", they're dead. Running neck to neck with NCIS LA is acceptable.

A month ago, I would have said no way, this bird has flown. But I really believe ABC wants to get back the fans that 6x23 turned away. It's almost like a challenge for them. I feel bad for Armann because I feel he did a marvelous job of bringing out the best in each character and them having them interacting so darn well. Felt he got a raw deal. But whoever takes over as the show runner will be working very closely with the network to take this a step further and really bring more fun, intensity, and creativity in character and script development. It should make for the some interesting scenarios. I mean, how many times can Kate quit the force? The next time will be for keeps, so she has to be sure about her future, and it almost feels like season 8 is going to explore Kate's journey into life after the NYPD. She has Castle, maybe kids, but also this intense need to speak for the people. And as she learns how to play the game, she will begin to realize what it is she is looking for in life. Yet another piece of the Beckett Onion to be revealed. Rick is solid and next season finds him exploring more about himself as well. And that is all well and good, but I want more of the other characters. especially Gates to interact more at the 12th. More Lanie would be nice as well. They could really have something special if we felt we can just chime in and be in their conversations and script. Season 2 and 3, I felt I could do that.
Alexis is getting more time now and she deserves it. She is a good actress. And she brings a lot to the show and is developing a very close relationship with Beckett that I like. Martha, the voice of reason, is just solid. Tremendous. Her scenes have so much meaning. This is still a very good show. But it can be better.
They had times this season when they all were so smooth together, that I was amazed about how awesome it was. First half of the season, was OK, but the second half has come up ACEs. Great writing, directing and acting.
So...does Stana want to leave? I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me, but this is the show that put her on the map. I would hope she has a sense of loyalty to the Network and more importantly, the fans.
Was there trouble between her and Nathan? Maybe....we saw a lot of split shows and scenes where the two were not together, so it begs the question, what gives? If you read some of the rags, some have insinuated that the two don't like each other and don't like to be around be other....but I say I don't care if they do or not. As long as they make that amazing chemistry, they can throw darts at each other. They are the People's Choice and that is why it will be so hard for ABC to put an axe to this show.
If we lose Stana, I sense a Murder He Wrote scenario. It could be a game changer, but also a bomb. This show needs Katic more than she needs to be on it.
So I am feeling that season 8 gets the nod. For once I hope I am right.

Running neck to neck with NCIS LA is acceptable. I agree my friend that running neck and neck with NCIS is really good. NCIS LA used to bring in 12-14 million viewers before the moved to Mondays. We forget that at the start of the season, we had Castle, The Blacklist and NCIS LA all in that coveted 10pm time slot. What makes Castle such a monster is the DVR +3 and +7 ratings. The demo and the numbers jump and rock.
