Hi everyone!
Tycho - thanks for this post! I will admit to being a little confused about his answer to Castle though. Can anyone clarify please? I was happy to hear that he is not an actor who dismisses soaps as the lowest of the low of viewing. I always think it must be an amazing learning experience. The amount of dialog that the actors have to learn, I don't believe that they get much rehearsal time, if any, the emotions they have to call up, how to work with a camera etc if it's your first job.

B Here is the question and his answer: What did you think of the end of Castle? It looked like Castle and Beckett (Stana Katic) were going to die these horrible deaths, but then they got a happily ever after. I’m totally happy and satisfied [with the ending]. I was telling stories more than watching them. My lens is far different. I’m far less an audience member than a participant. You are right...that is a strange answer? Anyone like to help figure out what he was saying?

To me, it sounds like he was happy with the way the show ended. His perspective is different than ours because he's the actor creating and telling the story. Sounds like he was saying that he didn't watch a lot of the show. I can see why because of the long days of filming. Read another interview where he said he doesn't remember a lot if the show. Some fans didn't like that response. It makes perfect sense to me. As a mother of 5 children, I don't remember a lot of the specifics of the years when they were all little and it was all I could do to keep my head above water and make it through the crazy busy days. I can understand where Nathan is coming from.

Once the role is over, it's simply time to move on.

Thanks for the replies.
Tycho - happy to see that I was not the only one confused by his answer. And for me, but for those final 20 seconds I would not still be able to watch any of the earlier episodes of Castle. So I was certainly not happy with how the series ended.
Castlelover, PTVJ - I agree that most actors hate to watch themselves on screen and yes, to them it is just a job. Once done, move on to the next one if you are lucky. However it seems to me that ask Nathan about Firefly and he has any number of memories about that show. Or even the way in which he addresses the soap opera role that he played. It just seems a little disrespectful? that having spent 8 years of his life on a project with incredibly long, tiring hours he cannot find anything to say about the cast and crew who worked with him through that time? Or was it soo tedious and the bts rumors are true that Nathan just erased everything about that time from his memory?

B My guess, and it's just a guess, is that things were pretty tense on the set the final season or so and he'd prefer not to talk about that. It was his longest acting job and it had its ups and downs, where Firefly was so short it was all highs and the soap was seen through the eyes of a new, excited actor. It feels like he's still struggling to put Castle in perspective and it comes across in his answers.

In regards to his answer about Castle, I think he was just trying to point out to fans that his perspective is different. I'm sure he's aware of how the fans reacted to the lame ending and he wants people to realize that he doesn't view the show as a fan would.
