IBM and Bren, you both make good points! Castle immediately had an additional dimension with Martha and Alexis and it made him a much more intriguing character. And Bren, I wonder if Milmar intentionally made the pilot as Castlesque as possible with the hope that they'd draw in the Castle fans. I'm sure they realize there are a lot of us still out here! Like you, I hope they begin to form their own identity with this new show. I think there's lots of room for that to happen because many of the basic plot points are different, but we'll see. Like Geezer, I'm viewing it as a new show and enjoying the whole premise.

I rewatched Take Two last night with my husband and daughter and they both enjoyed it.
I'm torn over it, perhaps because I'm looking at it from a writer's perspective. I can see exactly where all of the dialogue, character moments, and quirky plot points that they used on Castle are rehashed here with a gender twist and slightly different careers for the main characters. For me, it's somewhere between annoying and highly distracting.
On the upside, I liked the lead actors more than I thought I would, and I don't mind that there isn't that intense chemistry we saw right from the start of Castle. Considering how Castle ended, I think I may be burned out on that for a while.
Since my family likes it I'm sure we'll continue watching. I'm hoping as it goes on that I'll feel the show take on its own personality because right now, to me, it feels like more of a Castle clone.

I rewatched with my husband today. I paid attention this time and I have to admit it seemed better than the 1st time when it only had half my attention. We'll watch some more and see if it keeps our interest.
