Air date Nov 5, 2012 During the annual major SciFfi convention, Nebula 9 - super-fan Audrey O'Neill, who finally organized with a nerd couple a life performance there starring the short-lived series' original cast as well after decade of 'webipsodes', is found dead on set, killed with a real 'space laser', of which only two working ones were custom-made. Castle, who has better taste, is amused to find Becket was part of a college fan gang. The team works out various personal, career and business motives as well as opportunities for cast and crew. This episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes. He loved to do cameos in things he directs. He shows up as Nathan's #1 fan. He got an autograph and as he is walking away Castle says "oh how far they fall" or something like that as an ad-lib. The final scene was another one I almost did as the puzzle with Beckett dressed in her Nebula 9 costume with a little extra head dressing that kind of freaked Castle out. www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=1c38f3409918

As I recall, this episode got a love/hate response from the fans. I was in the LOVE, LOVE, LOVE camp! I adored the backstory of Beckett being a superfan and even doing cosplay and when Castle found that out from the old friend, his excitement was delightful. I also thought the guy who played the washed up actor who had been the captain in the program, was an absolute HOOT! This is most definitely in my Top 10 episodes.

I always loved it when Rick would gather info about Kate's past. It was like someone gave him a present and he would cherish it. Of course, then he would have to hassle her about it. God, I miss those days.
