Planets, dank access ways. Is it just me or does this remind you of Alien? My entry for the Castle Summer Hiatus 2015 Ficathon. It is based on the Novelization for the Ridley Scott Film "Alien" by Alan Dean Foster but with Caskett sharing the role of Ripley. This story doesn't seem to be resonating with people the way I'd hoped. (in spite of some very dedicated people's best efforts on my behalf) It seemed like such a no brainer at the time, given how heavily Alien was referenced in "The Wrong Stuff" adapting Alien for Caskett seemed right up my alley. I've certainly written much more gruesome stories than this one which were a lot more well received.
I think part of that is the fact that this is ALIEN we're talking about here, and to some degree I get that. It was a really scary movie, but it was also the debut of one of the most kick ass female protagonists in American cinema. Namely Ellen Ripley. A character I see reflected in Kate Beckett. I'm intentionally not dwelling on the horror aspect of it too much.
I'm going to finish it, because I'm invested in writing it and I have enough unfinished works floating around out there. I'm even contemplating adapting the sequel, Aliens during the winter break as well. If you've enjoyed my work up to this point and I know quite a few of you do, I urge you to take a chance on it. I know Alien isn't exactly a fluffy story, but that could be said about the majority of my work to date.
If you like it, tell me, if you don't tell me. I look forward to hearing how you think I did.

I have read a lot of your other fics, and generally enjoy them....even your more angsty ones. But I really did not like Alien, so just can't get into this one. Sorry!

I understand your feelings about Alien, I really do. It was shot more as a horror flick than sci fi. My brother had much the same reaction to The Exorcist, and I had a really bad reaction to the 1990 remake of Cape Fear. (a movie I never intend to see again) The more gory elements aside, I really have tried to make it more about the characters who are thrust in this situation than about the horror of it. Gothic Horror really isn't my thing, either.
