Hi everyone
Is anyone else watching this series?
Like quite a few viewers I was not expecting much and had only set to record the first episode but before the end I set the recorder for a series link and if I could, this would have been a series that I would most definitely have binged watched. Waiting a week for the next episode was just far too long a wait.
It's set in the world of the X-Men, so most of the main characters are mutants. We are taken into this world by human parents who have two teenagers. The dad is all about his work bringing to justice mutants who have broken the law and the mother is a nurse. Neither are aware of any problems that their kids may have. They are called to the school because their 15y rs old son is in trouble. At the prom, the bullies that were terrorising him take it too far and he lashes out. I kept thinking that anyone in that awful situation I could imagine would love to be able to get back at their bullies the way in which Andy discovers he has powers. His 17yrs old sister Lauren rescues him showing her brother that she also has powers. It then becomes a case of the parents learning what it means to be different. How most mutants just want what everyone takes for granted, a job, a home, a family but because of their powers they are hunted because it is feared what they might do.
What has been interesting is that the usual comic book fans are ok with the changes that have been made to some of the mutants and usually those fans are quite vocal in their dislike of characters being changed. The series also appears to have the ability to surprise them and they like it. For me this is a series that you will either love or won't. There is no, "it's ok". I'm also with the fans that say because they are enjoying it, it will no doubt be cancelled.

Yes, I did the same thing recording the pilot, not expecting much but I too got sucked into this world. Now if they could get Hugh Jackman to make a guest appearance that would be fun.

Wishful thinking Tycho that will not happen because Hugh Jackman has hung up his claws for good it seems. Fans seem hopeful that if any X-Men are going to show up it could be Rogue seeing as how Anna Paquin is married to Stephen Moyer... Personally I find I don't actually mind that there are no true X-Men as such as they are using characters I know nothing about.
My wish though is that the dad finds that he has powers he didn't know he possesses given what his dad said to him. I also thought that I read somewhere that Sharon Gless will become a regular.
And, comic book fans seem to say that their heroes are only as good as the villains and boy, have they found a villain in that doctor. Totally want someone to put him down!

I think we have seen some of the fathers hidden powers. One time when he was talking with someone it was like he made them listen and change their mind. I can't remember the episode but it seemed a bit strange as we knew he didn't have powers but it made me think maybe he did have hidden powers even to him?

The only time that I can remember him doing that is the very first episode when they were called to the school because their son was in trouble but they had no idea that he was being bullied. He laughed with his wife about his 'stare' and wondered if it was too much because the principal had changed his mind.
Personally after what they did to the children, I would LOVE the dad to be the one to show that doctor what a mutant can do!

Right now this is a series that I wish I could binge watch because waiting a week for the next episode is killing! As guessed last season, the dad does indeed have a power and quite a destructive one at that! I'm wondering if he will actually mutate in appearance...
