Hi Folks,
We’ve got a lot of time before the season 8 premiere…and I’m curious. What’s your favorite Caskett near miss moment. You know, that scene where they almost kissed or were almost honest about their feelings but something interrupted them or they chickened out.
Here’s one of my top Caskett Near Misses:
“Setup” Season 3 Episode 16. It’s part one of the two-parter and Castle and Beckett are locked in the tent, believing they’ve been exposed to high levels of radiation. Castle actually has the guts to ask about Josh, who is supposedly headed out of the country for another Doctors Without Borders mission. Kate says, “I wish I had someone who could be there for me and I could be there for him and we could just dive into it together.”
There’s that look on Castle’s face. He’s about to dive in…when they are once again interrupted. Oh, that scene made me crazy!

It is still the "You Smell Like Cherries"moment in Vampire Weekend in Season 2. Ryan ruined the moment but the message was clear....I remember laughing out loud and wife chimed in with "Get A Room You Two!!" The next day a friend, who will remain nameless, commented that they should have taken a coffee break and come back smoking unfiltered "Camels"....OMG!

Hands down, the season two finale ripped my heart out. I wasn't following any boards at that point, and unlike a lot of fans, had no idea the actress who played Gina was slated to make an apprearance. I was completely in the moment a didn't know what was coming until Gina showed up. Ugh! The agony! Poor Kate! I think that moment put them back farther than just about any other moment in the show. It took a long time for Kate to risk her heart a second time.

The scene in the freezer where Kate almost says, "I just want you to know how much I l...."
Also, the end scene in that episode where Castle says, "You know, I was thinking" and then sees Josh and says he needs to go home. I love how Kate is hugging Josh, but looking at Castle.

The scene in LA when Kate waited too long to come back out of her room. That drove me NUTS.

S3E17 when Josh showed up and interrupted what Rick wanted to say to Kate. The look on Rick's face when he got on the elevator and could not bring himself to look at Kate and Josh was heart wrenching.

The look on Kate's face when Rick walks away with his arm around Gina still hurts to watch. I was probably one of the only people who understood why Castle left with Gina. He just couldn't stay and watch Kate be with Demming but he wanted her to be happy. He thought he was doing the honorable thing to leave and let Kate think he was moving on. Kate never told him she broke up with Demming. The last thing he heard was that Kate had turned down his Hamptons offer saying she had to work but told Demming she might go with him that same weekend. |

Gotta agree with geezer about that hotel room scene in L.A.
I suppose it was too much to hope for at that point, but I spent the entire summer after season 3 in anticipation of Kate's reaction to Castle's ILY in the S3 finale. I was soooo disappointed with Kate's fake amnesia.

Her fake amnesia and then running off for the summer without even talking to Castle was the exact opposite of what fans had hoped to see.  I found season 4 difficult waiting for them to confront all of that. |

The scenes in RISE, 4x01, when Rick says/asks, "I watched you die inside that ambulance. Do you know what that's like to watch the life drain out of someone you ... care about?"--and when they speak at the swing set in subtext about Kate's not being ready for a relationship like she wants until her wall is down and when she has put her mom's case to rest.
AND
Although, it was not yet time for CASKETT, when Kate, in THE LIMEY, 4x20, asks Rick if they can talk; and he replies that Jacinda has the car double-parked in a loading zone. Kate says, "Wow, three dates in four days; you must really like her." Rick says, "Yeah, why?" and, I think, waits and watches for Kate's answer, which is that she doesn't seem like CASTLE'S type. Rick continues that Jacinda is fun and uncomplicated, which is what his life then needs.
