This episode aired on Valentine's Day. We all had hopes for something to happen with Caskett. This scene was near the end after Castle had solved the murder of his friends Father all by himself ,only to discover that his "friend" was actually the cold blooded murderer. He had paid for his own Father to be killed so he could have his money. The roles were reversed here as usually it was Castle who was there to cheer Kate up. She steps up, even though it Valentines Day and Dr. Motorcycle boy is her "boyfriend" , and she asks Castle out for a drink. These looks the first few years were priceless. I have been listening to old Castle panels and I remember Nathan saying that his friend Alan almost played this old friend in this episode but then he had some conflict. I think they were waiting until they got the go ahead to do the episode that Alan had written. www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=3e12474eb76dAny thoughts?

I liked so many things about this episode!
As you said, Tycho, there was a great role reversal as Kate offered support when Castle was feeling low. The fact that it was Valentine's Day and she took time out for Castle spoke volumes. Josh was someone she could fit in whenever. Castle needed her and she was there for him. The shoulder bump as they walked down the street was awesome!
I also like the way that Castle was very loyal to his friend, but when the time came that the truth came out, Castle didn't hide away or avoid the situation. He is the one who confronted his friend and he was man enough to accept the reality of it all.
Probably the most memorable scene for me was when Castle was explaining to Kate how his friend had shaped him as a writer. Nathan delivered a very impassioned speech and did a fantastic job of showing emotion in his voice and facial expressions.

Didn't you just love those episodes when we all would get so frustrated when the two of them would not address the elephant in the room but once in a while they just could not help themselves. I would be so happy the next week waiting to see what was coming. My favorite part was when Kate told the friend that she believed in Rick. The way she said it just said that she meant so much more than she was saying. I loved that!!!!!!

And Beckett's coat! I love coats. Where is that Beckett's Coats thread, anyway.... Did that get saved from the 12th or did we start it over here?

Geezer, I forgot about that comment. Thanks for reminding me. I agree that it spoke volumes.

It was one of those episodes that gave us so much hope for Rick and Kate and kept us coming back for more. It was like I just wanted my kernel of hope for them each week and I was so happy and couldn't wait to see what happened the next week. Those early episodes were so well written, but Nathan and Stana sold them to us. It's pretty amazing that we are STILL here talking about a TV show that is no more!
