Many apologies for being a bit MIA the last couple months, as my last semester as an undergrad started winding down things started getting a bit busy. Much to catch you guys up on including, a few pictures from the play Anyway, today was graduation day. BA in English, woot woot Now on to the Master's program While I did not get into Edinburgh, according to my professor's I am a certain to get into the Master's program here Back to Graduation, I have many stories to tell about today as it was an amazing and fun day. However, as I have been up since 3:45 this morning, as commencement was at 7am with check-in at 5:30am (it's own story to tell, lol), it will be a bit longer before I can give a full review of my activities. The basics though: graduated Summa cum Laude though, I did not know that I had until, I read the program, lol. I thought it was something one was nominated for or something to that effect. No one told me it was bestowed just based on grades alone, lol. A nice surprise to be sure And, here is one of my favorite pics from the day It is me with two of my amazing English professors It has its own hilarious story to go with it which, I can't wait to tell

Many, many thanks everyone It still really hasn’t set in yet that I’m a college graduate. I think it mostly it is because I plan to continue with my education, so it just feels like I’m starting Summer vacation rather than relaxing after years of scholarly pursuit. My Graduation day started early, mostly because my university did not expect the number of graduates that it had. This year saw the largest number of graduates in Cal State Bakersfield’s history. Originally, it was supposed to be one large ceremony with all schools graduating at the same time, starting at 8 in the morning. But, with the large numbers there was not going to be enough space for all the guests without requiring tickets, something we were originally promised not to have to worry about. A week before our graduation the heads of the university held an emergency meeting and split the ceremony in two. For whatever reason the School of Arts and Humanities was placed in the early camp and I had to be up at 3:45 am in order to make a check in time of 5:30 am. When I got there, I really had no idea where I was going because I rarely visited the softball field. I finally found the gathering of waiting graduates just as the sun started coming up. Check in went smoothly but, I had to stand around for about an hour until the ceremonies began. It was fun though as my friends and I were at the start of the line for English and there was a small good natured back and forth about which of us was going to carry the sign during the march. We were lead in by the professors of all the schools graduating during our ceremony. English was one of the first to cross the stage so my friends and I were sitting front row. It was interesting ceremony. Our former mayor was given an honorary doctorate and we had several local tv personalities reading the names. Unfortunately, due to a small oversight by those directing the ceremonies our professors did not get to shake our hands after we walked across the stage because they had been directed to stand in the wrong spot. It was remedied after the English graduates had finished but, from what I later found out our professors felt bad. After the ceremony, there was a small reception, which is where that photo was taken. The funny story that went with it was that I almost, accidently, took my Professor’s eye out with the decorations on my cap. As I was positioning into the photo, I suddenly heard some woah’s and commotion from my Professors, including the commentary around he wouldn’t really need his eye anyway. Needless to say, I am glad I didn’t take out an eye as I am not quite sure what that would have done to my grade, lol. Another funny story surrounding my cap is that if my tassel was not whacking me in the face, the cap was either getting turned around or knocked off; the latter happening when my other professor, the taller of the two in the photo, gave me a hug. I also brought a book to the ceremony based on a recommendation. It was a sound recommendation, though I joke that it was his fault that I was stuck dragging a book around for hours and never had time to read it, lol. Although it was worth it in some ways as one of my professors, same tall one, read the first page and last out of curiosity, and immediately pronounced it as a salacious book. After other photos and food, I left the reception with my mom and one of my friends in order to find foods that my friend’s twin sister could eat at the party planned at my cousin’s house that night. Ridding a strong emotional high, I spent a bit of money at Barns and Noble on a book and some games for the party. I also bought a Build-a-Bear at the local mall and spent quite a few hours having a blast. The party itself was fun. We played games, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company. The next day was a grad party for another of my friends which was also fun. We played a game that is a takeoff of Cards against Humanity called Bard Dispenses Profanity. At that is the Graduation celebration in a nut shell.

fantasynovelreader, Congratulations!I'm so happy that all of your hard work is paying off, and I'm thrilled that you have such wonderful stories to tell from your memorable day. Thank you for sharing them here. I have one request...can we get a picture of the bear you made at Build a Bear? And Bard Dispenses Profanity sounds hysterical. Be sure to keep us posted on what comes next. I look forward to hearing about it.
