I was curious how all of my friends in the northern sections of the U.S. survived this latest, and hopefully last, blast of winter weather.
Here in the north east we had what's known as a Nor'easter, which is just a type of blizzard. My area was supposed to get 12" to 18" inches. We got off easy with only about 8". Unfortunately it was really heavy snow with a layer of ice on top which made it very difficult to shovel.
My husband, daughter, and I spent almost 3 hours shoveling out. Not fun, but at least it's done and I'm hoping that in a week or so spring will be here to melt it all away.
So how did everyone else make out? I know parts of this storm hit the mid-west too so feel free to check in here and share your snow stories.

I will try to send you some sun and warm from Arizona. We are seeing 90's all week which is about 12 degrees above normal. I bought a planter for the patio today at Costco so tomatoes and pea pods are coming soon I hope.

Here in north central Mass. we got 16 inches, although I swore it was 2 feet when I tried to walk through it... actually I swore just in general when I wasn't walking through it .....and it seemed to have some "concrete" component mixed in which made it REALLY heavy and hard to deal with...shoveling, snowblowing and tractor cleanup. Woe is me! I was so psyched because last week all the snow was gone, with thoughts of actually starting to do some garden cleanup. Let's hope we don't get socked again...although I remember being stranded in Baltimore for 3 days because of an April 1st blizzard in Boston/Northeast. I cannot imagine how they deal with the snow near the Great Lakes like in Buffalo, etc. Early to bed tonight.

Here in western Virginia we have had strong winds with tremendous wind gusts...more due this afternoon although not as severe. Yesterday a gust actually took the screen door off. We had to be 'dug out' from our apparently nominal snowfall. Dawn made it really very clear that recovering from my foot and ankle surgery meant that I was NOT being permitted outside. Our poor dog runs out in the backyard and is not pleased if she has to wait at all to get back inside. Anyway, sure hope the flowers and buds which had appeared were not destroyed. Still, we are alive and well.

Glad to hear everyone made it through okay. tycho657 - Yes, send me sun! Lots of sun! I was in Florida last month having dinner outside under a palm tree. I miss it, badly. marschg - I didn’t know you were in the NYC area. Yes, spring can’t come fast enough. Fjordmom - I heard that the storm shifted north and Massachusetts got about double what we got. And yes! It is like concrete, especially once it freezes. There’s a mound of it at the end of my driveway that refuses to be moved. It might as well be concrete at this point and I have to drive very slowly over it so it doesn't hurt my car. - And FYI, I took care of that extra post. larryholmes - I thought the same thing about the flowers. We had daffodils coming up the day before this storm hit. I hope they can make their way back once the snow clears… and I hope your ankle heals well.

We had a lot of wind the day before the snow hit. Almost 1 million people without power in the metro Detroit area. Followed by about 6 inches of snow and several days of extremely cold temps. We were fortunate, our particular neighborhood did not sustain much damage and we never lost power. So ready for spring!

Dear Mother Nature - I get it...I should not have opened my big mouth and brought up that blizzard of I forget which year where we got one on April 1st. There really was no need for you to repeat it. I beg you to please stop with this nonsense.
Sincerely trying to keep my sense of humor but this is NOT funny! I see no need for dragons or UFOs, BTW, although it might be entertaining as long as I don't have to clean up after them.

Dragons could be interesting...as long as they don't set your house on fire.
I wish I could tell you the snow was an April Fools Day joke, but you'll probably still get stuck shoveling it. Good luck and stay warm!

I say just get a good book or maybe a series of books you have wanted to read and shut yourself in until this nonsense decides to behave. I have been trying to send you some of our sun ...it doesn't want to go there sorry.

Just recently home from Hawaii so we were lucky enough to miss all the "fun" you had We were lucky enough to miss the last throes of winter here in Green Bay, Wi. Hopefully, no more snow this month. We came home to melted snow and signs of spring. The ice is off our pond, the robins are back, and there are signs of things starting to green up
