Tonight, of course, is the Superbowl. As no one in my family is a football fan, we will be recording it and then fast forwarding through the game to watch the commercials. But there's also lots of super cute TV on today. There's the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet and the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel. Also, if you're interested, there is 24: Legacy on FOX after the big game. It's the first installment for the newest incarnation of the hit show 24. Enjoy your day!

PBS also has good shows this evening. LOL, but this is our "deal". We will watch the first half together, than Rikki will watch PBS and I will wander off and watch the 2nd half or sit with her if it is a boring game. Hey, it works for us!!

If anybody skipped the second half because it wasn't much of a game thru the first 3 quarters missed an epic comeback and failure. It was like they had someone paving this path to victory for them. Unbelievable ending. Very sad for Atlanta. Sorry

Sorry Heh....my husband and I gave up and went to bed just before they started that comeback....I think we get the credit for getting them GOING -- ha ha!!!!!! We only watch at superbowl time, are obviously not die-hard fans, but WOW, that must have been amazing to watch. I did keep checking a twitter feed and the news just kept getting BETTER AND BETTER! I am thankful they won! BEANTOWN will be going crazy!

I was rooting for Atlanta and it sure was disappointing to see them lose all their momentum in the second half. Giving credit where it's due though, New England certainly earned the victory with that comeback.
I do love to watch the ads but I noticed something that disturbed me this year. I bet close to half of the ads were for violent movies, tv shows or video games. It was depressing for me and it bothers me that advertisers must feel football fans are the prime target for these forms of entertainment. Maybe it's more of a guy thing but it just brought me down to think of so much violent entertainment.
On a cheerier note, there were a couple of ads I really enjoyed. I think my favorite was the clever Honda ad where the famous people were talking from their old yearbooks. I loved the message and thought it was a unique idea. Another one with a great message was the NFL's own ad. It showed guys painting lines on the football field with clips of players showing good sportsmanship and working together. At the end, the camera panned out and the field had an outline of the USA. The voice over was totally appropriate for our country as well as the NFL.
The funniest one for me was the Kings Hawaiian dinner roles ad where the guy stashes the rolls in a hidden door in his top cupboard and the kids on the other side of the wall keep finding these rolls magically appearing in the grandfather clock. It was cute.

It was cute. I think you're right about the violent movies, TV shows, etc. and I also have the impression that FOX and FX seem to dwell on it. Apparently there was no warm-n-fuzzy Clydesdale ad this year? That is just not right, what is the world coming to???

My favorite ad was the Mr. Clean one. I've always said there's nothing sexier than a man doing housework.
