I remember the first time I saw Carrie Fisher. I was 6 and she was Princess Leia, the first princess who didn't just sit around and wait for someone to rescue her but picked up a blaster, fought hard, and had a sarcastic comment for everything. There was no one else like her. I started reading Carrie's novels in high school and loved her dark sense of humor (fyi, Postcards From the Edge the novel is so much better than the movie.) RIP Carrie Fisher. You were one of a kind and you will be dearly missed. www.tvfanatic.com/2016/12/carrie-fisher-star-wars-princess-leia-and-entertainment-icon-dea/

I saw this news as I was buying popcorn for Rogue One. As the last scene came on the screen I teared up. She was the first woman to really be a hero in a movie. I loved her humor. This has been a hard year for the loss of people.

Can 2016 just stop already with the losses? I've had enough. This one really hurts.

This has been a hard year for the loss of people. We saw Rogue One the weekend it came out. I was thinking of that scene today after I heard the news, and how much more poignant it is now. While we can't possibly feel the same sense of loss that her family and co-stars are feeling, I can sympathize with Mark Hamill's #Devasted tweet. It feels like I just lost a major piece of my youth.

Very Sad, she had a tough life, and was still very young..

This was truly sad. We have lost another good one....I know we all worshiped her in Star Wars, but I have to tell you, I adored her character in "When Harry Met Sally".....
She was open and honest about her addiction and her mental health issues and championed the cause of creating public awareness to a world that sometimes refuses to acknowledge the imperfections of the mind. She was flawed and she was special. So awful to be taken so young.
