Apparently, Paul Lee stated at Upfronts that it is not the final season for Castle (or Greys) and he hopes they will run for many years to come.

Its official Stana tweeted that she is delighted to be returning for Castle Season 8. Off to enjoy my summer. Sept come to me

Did Paul Lee say whether it's gonna be full season or shortened one? Personally I wouldn't mind 13 episodes season(s), 'cause it would give both Stana and Nathan much more time for another projects in the meantime.
