Here's what one fan wrote from Brisbane, Australia...
Scrolling tumblr now, and all I can think is how surreal it is that I’ve seen him (shaken his hand three times! Side-hugged for two photos!) in real life. Watching him interact with other fans while waiting in the signing queue was so great. He chatted to little kids and their parents, and was so smiley all the time.
When it was my turn, he started to unroll the poster with Michelle’s help, and then got really excited - “I hardly ever see these posters!” Then he remembered he hadn’t shaken my hand and asked my name so we did that whole thing, and then he had to unroll the poster again. I said we met earlier for a photo, he apologised for not remembering since he sees so many faces (and of course I didn’t mind at all, I’m so bad at remembering faces anyway).
I told him the poster was already signed by Amy Acker, Alexys Denisof, and Joss Whedon; moreover that I’d brought it over from England in my carry-on. He said, “wow!” with a big smile, and Michelle said, “amazing!” He pulled out a silver sharpie, to match the signatures already on there, and signed his swoopy autograph. Then he moved the pen to below his name, and just paused. I knew he was going to write something else, and for about ten seconds or so I watched him think (Michelle did too, she had a curious frown on her face when I glanced at her). He started to doodle, and I tried to figure out what he was doing, it looked like an asterisk at first. His little lines turned into a stick dog, and then he started the next bit. He said, “that’s a berry…” while he added the stalk so it didn’t look like … I don’t know what, dog food? Then he carefully rolled the poster up and looked up to me with a little grin. I said thank you, he said you’re welcome, and that was that.
