Anyone else watching? It's on Masterpiece Theater on PBS. COMPLETELY swoon-worthy in OH, so many ways! COMPLETELY! It's a period drama that takes place after the Revolutionary War. High drama, romance, betrayal.... just a crazy good series. Hubs & I just finished binge-watching the first season as one of my besties bought me the DVD for my birthday. I now have to wait for the second season to come out on DVD as they're into the fifth or sixth episode already and I cannot get to the back issues and must watch in order. Anyway, lots of good story lines within this series going on and Ross Poldark, played by Aiden Turner, well, let me just say..... *DROOL*. Mr. Dreamy! Patrick Dempsey ain't got nothin' on Aiden.

YUP!!!!! I'm so annoyed when the episode ends and I HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS! PHEW...I just realized you hadn't watched the second season yet...and was about to give some Season 2 storyline away. I'll have to patiently wait for you to see Season 2....ooooh, I HATE waiting I thought the PBS stations were running Season 2 now? (I watch via TV Muse, episode 10 for Season 2 is scheduled for Nov. 6 ... I assume that's the final episode for Season 2 but not sure.)

The dilemma for me, is that we now do not have cable, nor a DVR/Tevo, whatever. So I am at the mercy of rabbit ear thingies. With that being said, most of my TV viewing is via online at the network's website, or Netflix. I do also have Amazon Prime. With our oldest moved out and on his own, our youngest in the muck and mire of being a pre-med student, my hubs working ton of overtime, we just weren't watching enough network TV to justify the outrageous cost of cable TV. Our phones and internet are enough of a financial cut into our pockets, so we've learned to do without. That being said, I am going to have to now wait until Season 2 is released on DVD to watch. The episodes do not go back to the premiere on PBS.org for me to watch from the beginning of this season, and I must watch in order. So yeah. Waiting. Tell me about it. Life is so tough. lol..................

Hi everyone
Castlekat is your interest in Poldark purely Aiden Turner magic? If not, and you can't wait, there are the 12 novels by Winston Graham for you to try.
I may be wrong but I think that this cast had a mountain to climb because fans of Poldark didn't think that the original could be beat. In fact the actor that played the Revered Halse was the original Ross Poldark. And over at the site that the entertainment industry hates, youtube, you can find some scenes/episodes of the 1975 series. For me, and I didn't follow the original or this series, Ross played by Robin Ellis - hmm, was almost always smiling with a twinkle in his eye. Aiden is more brooding. Would love to know what you think but bear in mind it was from the 70's.

B. OMG! I had NO idea that the 70's series existed! THANK YOU! I will DEFINITELY be checking this out! I was, however, aware of the books! How I'd simply be over the moon to find a vintage version! I do think Aiden Turner is magic, and eye candy in oh, so many ways, yes, but I'm ultimately here for the story.

Sorry that the trailer posted twice, no idea why.
Castlekat - happy to be able to provide you (and anyone else who might be interested) with information that is of interest. Wiki very kindly lists the books in order if it is your intention to read them. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poldark
Apart from the glorious scenery, I'm talking Cornwall not Turner, it seems to be a good historical drama. I believe that the details are factual. As I said, I didn't watch the 70's version as I was too young to appreciate it, but I did catch the odd scene now and then and I did become interested in Demelza's brother's story. All that I will say....

kman... thank you! I tried what you said, and yes, they are available, but I would have to pay. Stinks. lol.... 1Lincoln40... thank you, also! I was a hard-core spoiler junkie for Castle, but Poldark, not so much. I am going to explore some other options in trying to find the beginning of Season 2. And I literally LOL'd when I read the "glorious scenery" comment! High-five! I did not watch the 70's version, but that is something I could see myself watching at a later time. I do love an intriguing and multi-faceted historical drama. Especially with the potential for extensive character development. I feel Demelza & Ross have that in spades! My gut feeling tells me that Elizabeth is going to be a serious point of contention throughout season 2. I like her for the most part, but I LOVE Demelza.

Ahhhhhhh........ wish I had seen this before I "disappeared"! As it was, being totally obsessed, I went to Amazon and realized Season 2 had just come out on DVD! HOT DAMN, I said, and clicked on that baby and with my Amazon Prime, was here in less than two days! Needless to say, binge-watching had commenced, and within three days, season 2 had been completely devoured and my heart was satisfied! lol.... I have to say, I am as crazy about that show as I was watching Castle! The only other show that was gripping to watch for me was Dr. Quinn Medicine woman, and as far as period dramas go, I do love me some Jane Austen, Jane Eyre and the like, but Elisabeth Glaskell's "North and South" wins the prize! That story never gets old for me; I can watch it again and again, and that last kiss, well.... *fanning self*. But we've had this discussion before. Anyway, thank you for helping take care of me. This chick needs it from time to time. All is well in my Poldark world, and eagerly awaiting season 3, which I know they're already filming! *squee* And thanks for the love. I need that from time to time, too. Love ya back, bud!

Kat welcome back! What are your thoughts on what happened between Ross & Elizabeth?
Also I thought that someone might have linked you, or that you were already aware of the fact that S3 is a done deal. Enjoy!
I think I have been watching the characters that I am most looking forward to seeing namely Drake & Morwenna.

For anyone still following this series, for some reason the UK has already started showing the 3rd season, commenced Sunday, June 11th. I have yet to watch the 1st episode as it clashed with another new series. Anyone know if the US will bring this forward or do you think it will remain for the fall or next year?

B. It looks as though season 3 won't premiere until October 1st here in the US on PBS.
