HI Everyone,
This is a personal announcement but since some of you were aware that my sister was pregnant, I figured I’d post this for everyone.
My sister, Anne, gave birth to her daughter, Raven, yesterday! Mom and baby are doing great.
My sister is a wildlife biologist. She's worked all over the world and was working on the island of Saipan in the middle of the Pacific when she began having early contractions at only 6 months along. Given Saipan’s less than adequate medical facilities, her doctor said she needed to get back to the U.S. asap. But leaving a remote tropical island isn’t easy. She had to pack up the house, and get herself, the dog and the cat through 3 separate flights that lasted 2 days all while experiencing contractions any time she stood up or walked too long. (Yes, she had a wheelchair while traveling!)
You can ask nathanfan1, I was this close to leaving my husband and daughter, spending the 3K and flying out there to help. Luckily, with the help of Anne’s husband and my mom, it didn’t come to that.
Anne has spent the last couple months at our Mom’s in California where she’s had wonderful medical care. Funny thing is, after spending weeks worrying about the baby coming early, she actually arrived 5 days late!
Raven is 7 lbs. 12 oz. and 20.5 inches. Mother and baby are doing great.
Special thanks to nathanfan, tycho657, and castlekat for the support. I can’t even express how relieved I am, and I can’t wait to fly out and meet my niece in a couple of weeks.
